Atlantic At Kuemper- Varsity Doubleheader

Game 1

Kuemper tried to rally in the 7th but fell short as they struggled at the plate on Monday, collecting two hits. Kuemper didn’t have a baserunner until the 7th when they had three guys get on base. Atlantic took advantage of a walk and an error to score a pair of runs in the 1st, then added a run in the 2nd inning. The Trojans took command of the game with 3-runs. Gavin McLaren doubled to score a pair after the Knights had walked two guys and had another batter reach on a fielder’s choice. Atlantic had at least two baserunners in every inning. Aaron McDermott started the 7th with a double for Kuemper and Mason Knerl walked. Charles Mayhall doubled to score McDermott and Knerl scored on an error. Noah Reiman had a sac fly, scoring Mayhall.

Aaron McDermott and Charles Mayhall both doubled with McDermott scoring and Mayhall having an RBI. Noah Reiman had an RBI.

The Knights fall to 9-7 overall and will travel to Denison Schleswig on Tuesday.

Carroll At North Polk- Varsity Doubleheader

Carroll tried to rally late, scoring 4-runs in the 4th inning to pull within 9-4. North Polk responded with 5-runs in the bottom 4th to take command, then ended it in the top 5th. The Tigers hit the ball well with six players combining for nine hits. Four different Tigers scored with two players each having two RBI. The Comets offense had success, scoring 3-runs in the 1st, 2nd and 3rd innings prior to the big 4th inning. Mason Stitz drove in Stone Sibenaller and Carter Essick for Carroll and moments later Braxton Lu doubled to score Tallon Crandall and Mason Stitz.

Stone Sibenaller and Landon Petersen both had 2 hits for Carroll with Sibenaller scoring a run. Carter Essick and Tallon Crandall both had a hit and scored a run. Braxton Lu doubled with 2 RBI and Mason Stitz had a pair of hits and 2 RBI, adding a run scored.

Chase Schable had a no-hitter through 3 innings as he was cruising early. The Comets bats came alive in the 4th, just in time as the weather changed, ending the game after the 5th inning. North Polk scored a run in the 4th, then added 3-runs in the 4th to earn a hard fought 4-0 win. The Carroll offense, which hit the ball in the opening game, struggled in the nightcap, finishing with 3 hits. North Polk didn’t help the Tigers only walking and hitting one batter each.

Stone Sibenaller, Braxton Lu and Landon Petersen all had 1 hit for Carroll. Chase Schable finished with the loss, going 5 innings, allowing 4 hits and 4 earned runs with 3 strikeouts.

The two losses on the road drops Carroll to 5-10. They head to Storm Lake on Tuesday.

Coon Rapids Bayard scored in every inning they batted, taking a commanding 5-0 lead in the 1st, the erupting for 7-runs in the 4th to put the game out of reach. They were able to complete the 5th inning before weather rolled through the area. Eight Crusaders had at last one base hit with a lot of players contributing on offense. Eli McAlister had a 3-run double and an RBI single, Cal Heydon had a 2-run single and a double. Parker Hays and Andrew McAlister both added a 2-run single with Ty Heydon adding an RBI triple.

Tyler Mohr had a complete game, going 5 innings with 3 hits allowed and 3 earned runs. Mohr added a pair of strikeouts. Cal Heydon and Eli McAlister both had a pair of hits with Heydon adding a double, 2 RBI and scoring 3 runs. McAlister had a double with 3 RBI and scored  a run. Ty Heydon tripled, driving in a run and scored a run. Parker Hays had 3 RBI and scored a pair of runs. Caden Oswald had an RBI and scored twice and Cole Cretsinger doubled and scored twice.

The Crusaders moved to 14-2 overall and will host Newell Fonda on 93.7 KKRL on Tuesday.

Aidan Albright and Caleb Juhl both got on base to start the bottom of the 1st with both scoring. Those two runs were the only runs scored in the game which was called after the 5th inning due to weather. The Titans got a strong pitching performance from Halas Steig, allowing 2 hits over 5 innings. He didn’t allow a run and only walked 2, helping the Titans earn a 2-0 win. Andrew Anderson had a pair of hits and drove in a run in the 1st inning. Charlie Nattress added a base hit along with Aidan Albright. The Titans defense was strong all night, not making an error with twenty-one chances.

The Titans improved to 6-6 overall and head to Pocahontas Area on Wednesday.

A rough 2nd inning hurt the Raiders in a game shortened due to the weather. The game was in the 6th inning when the storm moved into the area, ending the game. The Raiders were hitting the ball well early, scoring a run in both the 1st and 2nd innings. The Mustangs scored a pair of runs in the 1st inning, then took control of the game with 6-runs in the 2nd. They out hit the Raiders 8-6 but had three extra baserunners with walks and hit-by-pitches.

Cael Roth continues his strong season with a pair of hits to lead the Raiders. He doubled, driving in a run and scoring once. Jack Gullett had a base hit with an RBI. Jordan Ulmer added a hit and scored a run. Beckem Kluver and Tucker Grossley both had a base hit. Carter Erritt pitched 4 innings, allowing 1 hit and struck out 4.

The Raiders are 2-9 and will host SE Valley on Wednesday.

The weather shortened the game to five innings as the Rockets suffer a close loss. Johnathan Riesselman pitched well, giving the Rockets a chance. The offense struggled, finishing with a pair of hits, scoring one run. Blayne Smith drove in Wyatt Ragaller in the 3rd inning, pulling the Rockets within 2-1. Boyer Valley had scored a run in the 2nd and another in the top 3rd to lead 2-0. They pushed that lead to 4-1 with a pair of runs in the 4th.

Johnathan Riesselman went 5 innings, allowing 4 hits and 3 earned runs with 4 strikeouts. He didn’t walk anyone. Riesselman added a base hit. Blayne Smith had a hit and an RBI with Wyatt Ragaller getting on base with walk and hit-by-pitch and scored a run.

The Rockets fall to 1-6 overall and will head to Boyer Valley on Wednesday.

Glidden Ralston had a chance to grab a late lead after the two teams had battled all game long.  They had runners on 1st and 2nd with no outs but weren’t able to tie the game or take the lead. Two ground balls on the infield and a strikeout ended the threat and the game was called after the 6th inning due to weather. Woodbine struck with a run in the top of the 1st but Glidden Ralston responded. Jonathan Bergmeier and Landon Rohrbeck got on base and both scored with Daniel Thooft driving in a run and Alex Daniel driving in Thooft. The Wildcats led 3-1 going into the 4th inning. Woodbine responded with 3-runs, taking a 4-3 lead going into the bottom 2nd. The Tigers outhit the Wildcats 7-6, showing how close the game was.

Colby Wallace was strong on the hill, allowing 4 earned runs in 6 innings on 7 hits and 3 strikeouts. Jonathan Bergmeier, Landon Rohrbeck and Daniel Thooft all had a base hit and scored a run. Colton Rohrbeck, Collin Sturm and Alex Daniel all added a base hit with Daniel getting an RBI.

The loss drops the Wildcats to 5-7 as they prepare to host Ar-We-Va on Wednesday.
