IKM-Manning at Coon Rapids-Bayard

Coon Rapids-Bayard hosted IKM-Manning in softball as two of our area teams faced off. Coon Rapids-Bayard came into the matchup at 0-10 and seeking their first win of the year. IKM-Manning came in 5-8 as they have set the tone for years to come with 3 more wins halfway through this year than the year previous. IKM-Manning opened the evening at the plate. CRB struggled pitching early on as they gave up 8 walks with 4 of them being hit by pitch. IKMM got 6 runs across during that first inning and batted 12 batters. CRB had Aubrey Hofbauer come in to pitch during the 1st and she got the final out. CRB came up to bat and they got 1 hit out of Hofbauer but she was left stranded. CRB settled in more in the 2nd as they let up one walk than proceeded to get the next 3 batters out. The Crusaders would go 3 up and 3 down on offense to keep it 6-0 after 2. IKMM would load with two outs before a strikeout to end the top of the 3rd. CRB had Caiti Anderson get off and she was left stranded to close the 3rd. IKMM batted all 9 in the 4th with Hannah McKinney, Laura McCarvile and Caylie Rasmussen scoring and taking a 9-0 lead after the top of the 4th. CRB would come back and score 2 of their own as Maddy Mason and Amelia Eddy were brought in by a wild pitch. IKMM would be shut out in the 5th and CRB got 2 more runs in the bottom of the 5th. The game would be called off after the 5th due to weather coming through the Coon Rapids area.

Woodbine at Glidden-Ralston

Glidden-Ralston hosted Woodbine on Monday. This matchup was for control of the Rolling Valley conference as both teams sat atop the conference heading into Monday. Glidden-Ralston sat at 8-1 and was red hot coming off of a win at home vs Kuemper on Saturday. The 1st inning proved that both teams came to play as they both kept eachother scoreless to start what would end up being a close matchup. Woodbine got hot in the 2nd with a 4 run inning to take a 4-0 lead early. Glidden would answer in the bottom of the 3rd with their only 2 runs of the game to cut the lead to 2. Woodbine held a lead 4-2 till the 5th. In the 5th the Tigers would score their final run of the game. Woodbine held on to pick up a 5-2 win and control their destiny atop the Rolling Valley conference.

Kuemper hosted Atlantic in a Hawkeye 10 matchup on Monday. Atlantic came in 12-8 and Kuemper 9-10. Both teams are fighting for a top 3 spot in the conference with Kuemper sitting at 3rd and Atlantic at 4th. Atlantic came to play as they got their lead off hitter around and led 1-0 after 1. Kuemper would go 3 up and 3 down in the 1st. The 2nd inning was where plenty of damage for each team was created. Atlantic scored their 1st 4 batters than left 2 stranded and held a 5-0 lead going into the bottom. Kuemper had Kaylie Wolterman and Kyla Wiskus reach off of singles and be betted around for 2 runs. This is where Kuempers offense peaked on the night as their last two innings went 3 up and 3 down. Atlantic had a 12 run 3rd inning which put the game out of reach for the Knights. Atlantic would get 1 more in the 4th to pick up a 18-2 win on the road.

East Sac at Newell-Fonda

A battle of two great starts to the 2025 season as East Sac traveled to Newell-Fonda on Monday. Newell came in ranked 3rd at 11-4 on the year. East Sac came into the night 8-4 as well. East Sac opened the game with Addison Ehler and Chloe Bieret reaching off of a single and double. Those two would score as well to take a 2-0 lead after the top of the 1st. Newell would get 1 of their own in the 1st to trail 2-1 after 1 inning. Both teams fell scoreless in the 2nd with East Sac going 3 and out and Newell getting only a couple hits. East Sac fell scoreless the rest of the game as they struggled on the offensive end late. Newell had a hot 3rd inning with 7 runs across the board while they bat 11. Later in the 6th they would close out the game with 2 runs and picking up a 10-2 win in 6 innings.

Carroll went on the road on Monday to take on North Polk in a double-header. North Polk came in 12-4 while Carroll was searching for a 1st win as they sat at 0-13. The game went 4 innings with Carroll pitching Emma Danner all 4 in the 1st game. She gave up 8 hits and 8 earned runs. The offense for the Tigers was slow as they had no hits and no walks.

Carroll and North Polk faced off in a double header on Monday. North Polk would ultimately have a good offensive night as they won both and in 4 innings each. Carroll had a better look at their offensive end with 2 hits and 1 runs scored. Kyla Owen scored for the Tigers as Brylee Mrla was credited with the RBI. The Tigers fall to 0-15 as they still search for their first win.

Exira-EHK-Audubon went to Tri-Center on Monday. The Spartans had a tremendous game on the defensive end as Riley Miller started and ended on the mound. The Spartans opened the game on the offensive end. They batted like they had a grudge against the ball as they had 5 runs score in the 1st. 3 of 3 to open the inning as well. The Spartans would have 5 hits on the night as they would show their success in moving around the bags to score. Riley Miller would give up just 1 hit and 1 walk on the night in 6 innings to win it 8-0.

Boyer Valley at Ar-We-Va*

Ar-We-Va led 6-0 in the 3rd inning before the game was suspended due to weather. The game will be finished on July 2nd at Boyer Valley.

 

 

Alta Aurelia at South Central Calhoun*

Alta Aurelia led 20-1 in the 4th inning before the game was suspended due to weather. Both schools are still looking for a makeup date.
