Carroll used a big 2nd inning to help them advance to the championship game of their tournament on Saturday. They scored 5-runs to take the lead, then matched the Rams scoring the rest of the game. The Tigers collected 11-hits with seven different players collecting at least one hit. MVAOCOU scored a pair of runs in the 1st but never led again after Carroll scored 5-runs in the 2nd. The Tigers pushed the lead to 8-3 after the four innings. Tallon Crandall and Chase Schable teamed up on the hill to allow 7 hits and 2 earned runs.
Jackson Gross, Stone Sibenaller, Carter Essick and Mason Stitz all had 2 hits for Carroll. Sibenaller had a double with 2 RBI and scored a run, Stitz added a double and scored twice. Chase Schable had a pair of RBI and scored a run and Landon Petersen doubled and scored twice. Tallon Crandall earned the win, going 6 1/3 inning, allowing 7 hits and 2 earned runs.
Carroll faced Saydel in the championship game.

All the scoring came in the final two innings for both teams as the pitching controlled the game until late. The Crusaders finished with 4-hits and came a half inning away from earning a win over a ranked 3A team. Cal Heydon scored on a double steal, where Ty Heydon got in a rundown between 1st and 2nd base, giving the Crusaders a 1-0 lead in the top 6th. Saydel responded with a run in the bottom half, tying the game a 1-1. Caden Oswald came to the plate with 2-outs in the 7th and doubled, scoring moments later on a balk while he was on 3rd base. Saydel had their 7, 8 and 9 hitters due up in the bottom 7th and started the inning with a walk. A single that just squeezed into right field game them a pair of runners on base. The Eagles worked themselves into having runners on 2nd and 3rd and a base hit scored both runners to end the game.
Caden Oswald had a double and scored a run, Cal Heydon singled and scored and Ty Heydon had single. Mason Culbertson pitched well, going 5 1/3 inning, allowing 4 hits with no earned runs.
The Crusaders moved into the 3rd place game against MVAOCOU.

Coon Rapids Bayard edged the Rams for 3rd place, holding on as MVAOCOU over the final two innings after they scored 3-runs in the bottom 5th to pull within a run. The Crusaders never trailed but never pulled away, taking a 2-0 lead in the 2nd inning and leading 3-2 after the Rams scored twice in the bottom 3rd. The Crusaders added a run in the 4th, then stretched the lead to 6-2 with a pair of runs in the 5th. MVAOCOU rallied in the bottom 5th with 3-runs but Coon Rapids Baya held a 1-run lead going to the 6th.
Tyler Mohr had 2 hits with a double while driving in 3 RBI. Caden Oswald singled, driving in a pair of runs and Cal Heydon had a RBI double. Jace Baker scored twice and Caden Oswald earned the win, going 3 innings, allowing 2 hits and striking out 5.
The Crusaders are 13-2 heading into a home game with Exira-EHK on Monday.

Carroll earned the first tournament championship with a win over a ranked Saydel team, using a tough pitching performance from Trey Tassell and big hitting night, led by Mason Stitz and Stone Sibenaller. Saydel was steady at the plate early, scoring 1-run in the first-three innings to lead 3-2. The Tigers hung closes with a run in both the 1st and 3rd innings. Things turned in Carroll’s favor in the 5th, scoring 4-runs. Stone Sibenaller came in late to close out the win.
Trey Tassell went 6 2/3 innings, earning the win with 3 earned runs and 6 hits allowed. Stone Sibenaller had a double and a triple with a RBI and scored 3 runs. Carter Essick added a double with 2 RBI and scored a run. Mason Stitz was huge with 3 hits including a double with 2 RBI.
Carroll moves to 5-8 overall and will travel to North Polk on Monday.
