Glidden-Ralston at Ar-We-Va

Ar-We-Va hosted Glidden-Ralston in a matchup of two of our area schools. Both teams came out of the 1st inning scoreless as the pitching was great. The 2nd inning went better in favor of Ar-We-Va. Weston Toft and Derek Thomsen would both get on base and be brought around to take a 2-0 lead going into the 3rd. Glidden would combat that with a huge offensive inning. Their top 5 hitters would all get on and score. Lucas Christian hit a double down the 3rd baseline and two rockets collided in a freak play as he woul dbe credited with 3 RBI and the wildcats would score 6 to take a 6-2 lead. Ar-We-Va would have Derek and Damon Thomsen both score to make it 6-4 in the 4th but this is where the rockets scoring would come to an end as Glidden would get 3 in the 4th, 4 in the 5th and the final one in the 6th to win it 14-4.

IKM-Manning At Audubon

Audubon jumped out to a 7-1 lead after five innings with Adam Obrecht dominating on the hill. Obrecht struck out the  first-five batters and eight of the first-nine he faced. The Wheelers took advantage of several IKM-Manning miscues, scoring 5-runs in the 5th to take control. IKM-Manning wasn’t ready to go away, scoring 3-runs in the 6th, helped by six Wheeler errors. The Wheelers stretched the lead to 8-4 with a run in the bottom half. That run turned out to be the difference in the game. IKM-Manning rallied again in the 7th, scoring 3-runs to pull within one. They loaded the bases with 2-0uts by Brody Schultes was able to get a popup on the infield to end the game.

Adam Obrecht controlled the game early with five straight looking strikeouts for the Wheelers. He struck out eight of the first-nine batters and stranded the other Wolves on 2nd base. The Wheelers struck first, scoring a pair of runs in the 3rd. Aiden Kjergaard reached on an error and moved to 3rd on a two-base throwing error. Jack Stanerson put down a sac bunt, scoring Kjergaard and reaching 1st base. Stanerson scored later on a wild pitch and the Wheelers were up 2-0. The Wolves responded in the 3rd with Brock Kusel singling, stealing 2nd and scoring on a throwing error. Audubon had a chance to put the game away in the 5th, They scored 5-runs, collecting three hits, taking advantage of a Wolves error. Brody Schultes singled with a runner on base. Schultes and Jack Stanerson scored a Wolves error, pushing the lead to 4-1. Colton Hansen doubled and Audubon had runners on 2nd and 3rd. Mason Steckler loaded the bases, getting hit-by-pitch and Wessel and Hansen scored on a double by Adam Obrecht. Brody Weber, who was running for Steckler scored and Audubon was up 7-1. The Wheelers defense struggled in the 6th, helping the Wolves climb back into the game. Brandon Enenbach had an RBI single but the Wolves scored Luke Doyle, Isaac Blankman and Abe Polzien as they benefited from six Wheelers errors. The Wolves pulled within 7-4 going into the bottom 6th. IKM-Manning returned the defensive favor to Audubon, having a pair of errors in the bottom half, allowing Brody Schultes to reach and score on an error. His run pushed the Wheelers lead to 8-4. Kasche Huehn worked a 1-out walk in the 7th and Jace Starman singled. The Wheelers intentionally walked Brock Kusel to load the bases and Karsyn Lorenzen, Abe Polzien and Brandon Enenbach all walked to score a run, pulling the Wolves within 8-7. The bases were loaded when Brody Schultes induced a popup to Jack Stanerson at shortstop to end the game.

Adam Obrecht earned the win for Audubon, going 6 1/3 innings, allowing 6 hits and 3 earned runs while striking out 10. He added a double and 2 RBI at the plate. Carson Wessel had 2 hits and 2 RBI while scoring once. Colton Hansen had a double and scored a run. Jack Stanerson added a pair of runs scored and Brody Schultes scored twice and earned the save.

Isaac Blankman led the Wolves with 2 hits, driving in a pair of RBI and scoring a run. Abe Polzien added 2 RBI and Brock Kusel scored 2 runs. Kasche Huehn had a base hit, driving in a run and scored a run.

Audubon improves to 3-9 and will host AHSTW on Friday. IKM-Manning falls to 4-8 and will entertain Underwood on Friday.

Carroll At Winterset

Carroll got good production from the top of the order and a strong start from Jackson Gross, keeping them in the game against Winterset. The game was scoreless going into the 4th when Winterset took a 4-0 lead. They were able to keep the Tigers at bay most of the game, holding Carroll to five hits. Jackson Gross singled in the 5th for Carroll and scored on a hit from Carter Essick, pulling Carroll within 4-1. The Huskies added a run in both the 5th and 6th inning for the final scoring.

Jackson Gross and Stone Sibenaller both had 2 hits with Gross scoring a run. Carter Essick added a hit and drove in an RBI. Chase Schable was hit-by-pitch twice. Jackson Gross went 6 innings, allowing 8 hits and 4 earned run, striking out 5.

The Tigers fall to 3-8 and will host their Invitational on Saturday with Saydel, Coon Rapids Bayard and MVAOCOU there.
