Kuemper At Red Oak- Varsity Doubleheader

Kuemper had three innings where they scored four or more runs, helping them outscore the Tigers for a 12-8 win in the first game of the doubleheader. Red Oak also scored in three innings but didn’t score more than three runs in any inning. The Knights trailed 6-3 going into the 4th inning before they erupted for five runs. They added four more runs in the 5th to gain control of the game.

The Knights scored 3-runs with no hits in the 1st inning. Chloe Gehling, Addison Schon, Claire Venner all walked and all three scored. Kyla Wiskus earned an RBI, reaching on an error and Cheyene Schaefer added an RBI on a ground out. Red Oak tied the game in the bottom 1st, then took the lead with 3-runs in the 3rd. The Knights left two runners on base in the 2nd but went down in order in the 3rd. That changed in the 4th inning with Abrey Pudenz starting the rally by getting hit-by-pitch. Chloe Gehling tripled, driving in a run. Gehling scored on a double by Charlotte Schwabe. Addison Schon earned an intentional walk and Claire Venner followed that with a RBI single. Kyla Wiskus drove in the final run, reaching on an error. The Knights stretched the lead with a four run 5th inning. Chloe Gehling reached on an error to start the inning and scored on a double by Charlotte Schwabe. Addison Schon was intentionally walked again and Claire Venner singled to score both. Cheyene Schaefer added and RBI single and the Knights led 12-6. Red Oak responded with a pair of runs in the bottom 5th but neither team scored again, though Kuemper left the bases loaded in the 7th. Red Oak had two runners on in the bottom 7th.

Charlotte Schwabe had four hits with 2-2B. She added a pair of RBI and scored twice. Chloe Gehling tripled, drove in a run and scored 3 runs. Claire Venner had 2 hits with 3 runs scored, Cheyene Schaefer added a pair of RBI and Charlotte Schwabe earned the win, going 7 innings, allowing 9 hits and 7 earned runs with 6 strikeouts.

Kuemper rolled in game 2, cruising to a sweep of the doubleheader. They put the second game away in the 1st inning, scoring 14 runs on 10 hits. The first eight batters scored and four of them scored twice in the 1st inning. Kuemper had 20 batters hit during the 1st inning. They batted 12 hitters in the 3rd inning, adding 7 runs on 7 hits. They finished with 20 hits with eight players having at least one hit.

Charlotte Schwabe singled to score Ellee Schreck, who reached on an error and stole 2nd base. Addison Schon doubled and Kaylie Wolterman singled to drive in Claire Venner. Lauren Gehling doubled, scoring three runs, then scored on a single by Abrey Pudenz and Morgan Masching doubled. She scored on a single by Ellee Schreck after Emma Vonnahme grounded out but drove in a run. Claire Venner doubled later in the 1st inning, scoring three runs, then scored on a single by Morgan Masching. Emma Vonnahme reached, driving in another run and Ellee Schreck added her second hit and second RBI in the inning. Red Oak didn’t score until the 3rd, adding a pair of runs in the 4th in the 24-3 loss.

Abrey Pudenz had 4 hits, 4 RBI and scored 3 runs, Morgan Masching had 4 hits with a double, drove in a pair of runs and scored twice. Ellee Schreck, Charlotte Schwabe, Addison Schon, Claire Venner and Lauren Gehling all had 2 hits. Schreck added 3 RBI and 3 runs scored, Schwabe scored 3 times, Addison Schon doubled and scored 5 runs and Venner had 4 RBI and scored 3 runs. Kaylie Wolterman had a pair of RBI and scored twice, Gehling doubled, finishing with 4 RBI and 3 runs scored. Emma Vonnahme added a pair of RBI. Addison Schon earned the win, going 4 innings, allowing 2 hits and 2 earned runs with 7 strikeouts.

The Knights moved to 7-7 and will host St Albert on Tuesday.

Glidden Ralston sent ten batters to the plate in both the 1st and 3rd innings, combining for 8-runs on two hits. They added 3-runs in the 2nd inning, helping them put the game away in four innings. The Crusaders had a baserunner in three of their four innings at the plate, moving a runner to 2nd base in the 4th inning.

Olivia Squibb ground out but drove in the first run of the game, putting Glidden Ralston up 1-0 in the 1st inning. Kennedy Thooft added a double, driving in a pair of runs and Chloe Peters scored on a passed ball, putting the Wildcats up 4-0. Jaelyn Subbert singled in the 2nd inning, putting the first-two Wildcats on base. Bryn Renze drove in a run with a ground out and Glidden Ralston used two wild pitches to push their lead to 7-0. Kassidy Wenck doubled to start the 3rd. They scored four runs without picking up another hit in the inning, building an 11-0 lead. They added a run in the 4th, going on to win 12-0 in four innings.

Kennedy Thooft had a pair of hits with a double, 3 RBI, Kassidy Wenck had a double and scored twice. Jenna Subbert scored 3 runs, Bryn Renz and Olivia Squibb both scored a pair of runs. Jaelyn Subbert earned the win, going 4 innings, allowing 2 hits and striking out 4.

Aubrey Hofbauer and Maddy Mason both had a base hit for the Crusaders and Anna Hart walked twice.

The Wildcats are 4-1 and will head to ACGC on Wednesday. Coon Rapids Bayard falls to 0-8 and will travel to Ar-We-Va on Wednesday.

Pocahontas Area had a baserunner on base in every inning but two on Monday while East Sac didn’t get their first runner on base until the 5th. The Raiders found a way to hang close, not giving up any big innings but the Indians slowly crept away, scoring 2-runs in the 2nd and 3rd innings, 3-runs in the 4th and a run in the 6th to end it.

Lauryn Lally was the Raiders first baserunner, reaching on an error in the 5th. Miranda Gerdes walked but the Raiders stranded two on base. Back-to-back singles by Addisen Ehler and Chloe Bieret gave the Raiders two baserunners in the 6th. They would be stranded a 2nd and 3rd base.

The loss drops East Sac to 6-1 overall. They host GTRA on Wednesday.

Anna Stangl homered but LoMa out hit the Wolves 12-5 and edged away to earn a 12-2, 5 inning win. The Wolves played well, making just one error but the Panthers kept the pressure on, scoring at least one run in all five innings. The Wolves were down 4-1 going into the bottom 4th, when the Panthers scored 4-runs to open the lead. The Wolves responded with a run in the 5th but LoMa came back with 2-runs to end the game, under the 8-run lead after 5 innings rule.

Anna Stangl had a home run with an RBI and scored a run. Kamryn Ketcham added a base hit and RBI while Hannah McKinney singled and scored. Alikxa McGinn and Karlee Arp both had a base hit, extending their hitting streaks.

The Wolves fell to 4-4 overall and will host Riverside on Tuesday.

Riley Miller pitched well but the Spartans fell to one of the favorites in the Western Iowa Conference on the road on Monday. Audrie Kohl pitched a terrific game for the Big Red, holding Exira-EHK-Audubon to a pair of hits and three baserunners. The Spartans were down 1-0 going into the 4th but Missouri Valley stretched together a couple hits to score a pair of runs. They added 3-runs in the 5th. Exira-EHK-Audubon had a runner on base in both the 2nd and 4th innings but weren’t able to score Abby Wanser, who singled in the 2nd or Anna Larsen, who singled in the 4th.

Anna Larsen and Abby Wanser both had a base hit for the Spartans. Jordan Mulford was hit-by-pitch. Riley Miller went 6 innings, allowing 4 hits and 2 earned runs with 11 strikeouts.

The Spartans fell to 5-5 overall and will host LoMa on Wednesday.

Manson NW Webster used two big innings to earn the road win at South Central Calhoun. The Titans fell behind 7-0 in the 1st inning but held the Cougars scoreless until the 5th when Manson NW Webster struck for 10-runs. The Titans had a tough night on defense with nine errors. Haylee Wiederin had a base hit for the Titans and Kenley Wuebker walked with Isabella Sackfield getting hit-by-pitch.

The Titans fall to 0-7 and will travel to West Bend Mallard on Wednesday.
