Kuemper scored first and led 7-3 going into the bottom of the 4th inning but St Mary’s rallied to tie the game in the 4th, then took the lead with a 3-run 6th inning in game shortened with the time limit. The Knights had nine hits and only walked three batters but an error helped generate the big 6th inning for the Hawks. They used three hits and a walk to build their lead, keeping themselves at the plate long enough to end the game in 6 innings.
Ellee Schreck and Charlotte Schwabe singled in the 1st and Addison Schon nailed a 2-run home run after St Mary’s had thrown out a runner on base. The Knights 2-0 lead lasted until the bottom of the 1st when the Hawks used a double and a 2-run home run to tie the game. A hit-by-pitch and a pair of singles in the 2nd gave the Hawks a 3-2 lead but Kuemper responded in the 4th. Claire Venner singled to lead off, followed by a single from Kaylie Wolterman and a double by Kyla Wiskus that tied the game at 3. Morgan Masching singled, giving Kuemper a 4-3 lead. Masching and Chloe Gehling, who walked both scored on an error by the Hawks and Ellee Schreck, who reached on a fielders choice scored on a single by Charlotte Schwabe. The 5-run 4th inning put Kuemper ahead 7-3. St Mary’s answered in the bottom 4th using a walk and a hit-by-pitch to set up a 2-run double. They scored 4-runs, tying the game at 7. The Knights went 1,2,3 in both the 5th and 6th innings and St Mary’s struck in the botttom 6th. A 1-out walk and an error put two runners on base. A doubled scored the lead run and a 2-run single gave the Hawks the 3-run lead.
Claire Venner and Charlotte Schwabe had a team high 2 hits each for the Knights with Schwabe adding an RBI. Addison Schon had a solo home run and Kyla Wiskus doubled to score a run. Morgan Masching had a base hit, drove in a run and scored a run.
The Knights took on Bishop Garrigan in their second game.

Kuemper led early in their second game of the day, getting a run from Chloe Gehling in the 1st inning but Bishop Garrigan scored 8-runs in the 4th inning to earn a come from behind 9-6 win. The Knights led 4-1 going into the 4th inning before Garrigan went on their run. Gehling tied the game at 1 in the 2nd inning but Kuemper came back in the 3rd to grab a 4-1 lead. Chloe Gehling bunted his way on base with a bunt and scored on a ground out by Ellee Schreck. Charlotte Schwabe singled and Addison Schon doubled to score her. Schon scored moments later on a single by Claire Venner. The Knights added a pair of runs in the 4th inning with Morgan Masching reaching on an error and Chloe Gehling bunting. They scored on a single by Ellee Schreck. Masching got on base in the 6th with a single but the Knights couldn’t stretch hits together after Garrigan scored 8-runs in the 4th.
Addison Schon doubled, driving in a run for the Knights with Ellee Schreck having a big game with 3 RBI and a base hit. Chloe Gehling singled, scoring 3 times with 3 stolen bases. Morgan Masching singled, scoring and stole 3 bases.
Kuemper is 5-7 heading into a varsity doubleheader at Redd Oak on Monday.

Maddy Mason hit a home run, Aubrey Hofbauer and Anna Hart added triples and Hofbauer doubled but Coon Rapids Bayard couldn’t contain an explosive Belmod Klemme team on Saturday, falling 26-6 in 4 innings. The Crusaders scored three times in the 1st inning but Belmond Klemme struck for 13-runs and led 13-3 after one inning. Coon Rapids Bayard didn’t score again until the 4th but Belmond Klemme added 4-runs in the 2nd and 7 more runs in the 3rd.
Maddy Mason went 3-3 for the Crusaders with a home run and 3 RBI. Anna Hart had a triple as part of 2 hits with an RBI and scored twice and Aubrey Hofbauer doubled and tripled, driving in a run and scoring a run.
The Crusaders are 0-8 the loss and having to forfeit their second game due to lack of players available. They host Glidden Ralston on Monday.

The Spartans played well on Saturday against a strong Atlantic program, leading 3-1 going into the bottom 3rd inning. The Trojans scored 5-runs in the 3rd to take control of the game and went on to win 10-4. Atlantic struck first, scoring a run in the bottom 1st but Exira-EHK-Audubon took the lead with 3-runs in the 3rd. Alissa Testroet doubled and Payton Gust singled to start the inning. Anna Larsen singled, driving in a pair of runs and Riley Miller drove in Larsen with a single. The Spartans couldn’t hold the lead as Atlantic had a single, walk and double to start the bottom 3rd, finishing with a 5-run inning. Atlantic added a pair of runs in the 4th and run in both the 5th and 6th innings. Exira-EHK-Audubon tried to rally in the 5th with Lucy Stanerson, Anna Larsen and Riley Miller all singling in a row with Stanerson scoring on the Miller hit. The rally fell short and the Spartans only had one runner the rest of the game.
Anna Larsen had a pair of hits, driving in a pair of runs and scored. Riley Miller had a pair of hits and RBI and Jordan Mulford had a pair of hits. Alisa Testroet doubled and scored and Lucy Stanerson and Payton Gust both had base hits and both scored a run.
The Spartans second game was rained out. They are 5-4 heading into a road trip to Missouri Valley on Monday.
