Glidden Ralston snapped a three game losing streak in a big way. They scored in all seven innings on Friday at Exira-EHK saving their best inning for last. The Wildcats never trailed but hadn’t been able to put the Spartans away, leading 6-4 after the 4th inning, scoring a run in the 1st and 2nd inning, then two in both the 3rd and 4th innings. The Spartans hung around with a run in the 1st and three runs in the 4th. A six run 7th inning gave the Wildcats a eight run lead as the entire lineup contributed to the win. Glidden Ralston had eight guys get a base  hit and ten of eleven players that batted get on base with a hit or a walk. The pitching was as strong as the hitting with Blayce Nelson and Alex Daniel combing to allow 5 hits and 3 earned runs with 8 strikeouts.

Glidden Ralston had three players with 3 hits with Landon Rohrbeck adding a pair of runs scored, an RBI and he stole 3 bases. Jonathan Bergmeier also had 3 hits with 3 runs scored and Daniel Thooft added 3 hits with 3 RBI and scored once. Collin Sturm was hit-by-pitch twice, helping him score 4 times. Blayce Nelson had 2 hits with a double and drove in 4 runs. Nelson also earned the win, going 5 innings, allowing 3 hits and 2 earned runs with 7 strikeouts.

The Wildcats improved to 3-4 on the season and will head to Coon Rapids Bayard on Monday.

Ar-We-Va At CAM

Ar-We-Va played their third straight road game this week to open the season, falling to 0-3 with a 11-1, 6 inning loss to CAM. The Rockets built a 1-0 lead in the 1st inning with Devon Ehlers doubling to score Johnathan Riesselman. They struggled to get baserunners on after that, finishing with four hits. CAM scored 5 runs in the 1st but the Rockets settled in and battled through four and a half innings. The Cougars began to blow things open with 5 runs in the 5th, using a few walks and some timely hits. They added a run in the bottom 6th to end the game.

Grant Wilken had a pair of hits with a double, Devon Ehlers had a double and an RBI and Johnathan Riesselman had a base hit and score a run.

The Rockets fall to 0-3 and will host Exira-EHK on Monday.

IKM-Manning At Tri Center

Tri Center slowly pulled away as IKM-Manning struggled at the plate and had three errors, allowing 4 unearned runs. The Trojans scored in the 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th innings, ending the game with a 3 run bottom 5th. They used eight hits along with five walks to keep pressure on the Wolves pitchers and defense. The Wolves finished with two hits and had four baserunners. Kasche Huehn and Jace Starman both had a hit for the Wolves and Huehn stole a base.

The loss drops IKM-Manning to 3-6 overall. They head back on the road Monday at LoMa.

Coon Rapids Bayard moved to 7-0 on the season with Mason Culbertson earning the win on  the hill, throwing 4 innings, allowing 2 hits. The Crusaders offense was clicking, scoring 5 runs in both the 2nd and 3rd innings. They finished with eleven hits with nine players having at least one hit. The Coon Rapids Bayard defense was terrific, committing no errors. Ty Heydon helped them blow the game open early with a two run double and Cal Heydon added a two run double. Parker Hays kept the top of the order swinging well with a pair of singles and 2 RBI.

Ty Heydon and Parker Hays both had 2 hits with Heydon doubling, driving in 3 RBI with Hays having a pair of RBI and scoring twice. Cal Heydon added a double with 2 RBI and scored twice. Mason Culbertson went 4 innings, allowing 2 hits with 5 strikeouts. Tyler Mohr had a base hit with an RBI and scored a run.

The Crusaders remain perfect and will host Pleasantville and Bedford on Saturday, playing Bedford at 11:00.

East Sac tried to rally late but fell just short of sending the game to extra innings. Alta Aurelia built a 4-0 lead with a run in the 1st and 2 in the 3rd. They added their final run in the 5th. The Raiders had threatened during the game but couldn’t break through. Cael Roth doubled in the 1st inning, but was stranded on base, Beckem Kluver walked and made it to 3rd in the 2nd but didn’t score. Zach Jacobsen ended the 4th inning on 3rd with Beckem Kluver was on 2nd. They finally broke through in the 6th. Cael Roth singled to start the 6th, stole 2nd base and scored on an RBI single by Zach Jacobsen. A walk by Jordan Ulmer to start the 7th and Landon Sporrer was hit-by-pitch. Both scored, pulling the Raiders within 4-3. Cael Roth singled but was thrown out on base and Carter Erritt singled and ended the inning on 1st base.

Cael Roth had 3 hits with an RBI and a run scored, Zach Jacobsen doubled, driving in a run and Landon Sporrer scored a run. Carter Erritt went 4 innings, allowing 2 hits and 2 earned runs with 7 strikeouts.

The Raiders are 2-5 and will head to Pocahontas Area on Monday.

South Central Calhoun scored in double figures for the second straight game, helping them improve to 4-4 on the season. The Titans bats were on fire, colling 12 hits and driving in 10 RBI. They were also patient at the plate with 10 walks. Seven of the nine Titans had at least one hit and six of them scored at least one run. The Titans took charge early, scoring 3 runs in the 1st and 4 more in the 2nd inning to lead 7-0. Sioux Central chipped away with a 3 run 3rd inning and trailed 8-4 going into the 5th. The Titans separated themselves with a 4 run 5th to lead 12-4. Three South Central Calhoun errors helped the Rebels continue to hang around as the Titans pitching only allowed 6 hits.

Andrew Anderson singled to open the game, followed by a single from Aidan Albright, scoring Anderson. Albright scored late in the inning on a passed ball, followed by a base  hit for Cooper Nattress, who scored on a single by Charlie Nattress. A walk by Tucker Berner to start the 2nd inning, led two a 2-run home run by Andrew Anderson. Charlie Nattress added an RBI double as the Titans scored 4-runs. Andrew Anderson did it again to start the 5th, doubling and scoring his third run of the game. Charlie Nattress had his third hit of the game, driving in another run. The Titans scored 4-runs in the 5th to blow open the game.

Andrew Anderson had his best game of the season at the plate, going 3-3 with a double and a home run. He drove in a pair of runs and scored 3 times. Charlie Nattress had 3 hits with a double, driving in 4 RBI while scoring twice. Cooper Nattress and Aidan Albright both scored 3 runs. Caleb Juhl had a pair of hits, driving in a run. Halas Steig pitched 3 innings, allowing 2 hits and 1 earned run with 3 strikeouts.

The Titans are 4-4 overall and will host Manson NW Webster on Monday.

Audubon did a nice job getting on base on Friday, collecting seven hits, walking four times and getting hit-by-pitch three times. They scored six runs with five in the 1st inning. They fell 21-6 to LoMa in four innings after struggling defensively and combining to walk eleven batters and hit four more. The defense had eight errors, helping the Wheelers allow fourteen unearned runs. Both teams scored 5 runs in the 1st inning but Audubon didn’t score again until the 3rd inning. LoMa added 8 runs in the 2nd inning, then scored 4 runs in both the 3rd and 4th innings.

The Wheelers had a nice 2-out rally in the 1st. Jack Stanerson singled to lead off and scored on a double play. Colton Hansen was hit-by-pitch and and Gabe Jensen reached on a dropped third strike. Mason Steckler singled to load the bases for Adam Obrecht who tripled to score 3 runs. Ryan Hermensen singled to score Obrecht, tying the game at 5 after the 1st inning. Audubon had two errors to start the 2nd, adding a third later in the inning and the Panthers scored 8 runs. The Wheelers tried to cut into the deficit in the 3rd, scoring on a ground ball by Aiden Kjergaard, scoring Mason Steckler. The Wheelers couldn’t push another runner across the plate and LoMa scored 4 runs top the 4th to end the scoring.

Mason Stecker had a team high 2 hits, scoring twice. Adam Obrecht tripled, driving in 3 RBI and scored a run. Jack Stanerson singled and scored. Ryan Hermansen had a base hit and an RBI.

The loss drops the Wheelers to 1-8. They head to Missouri Valley on Monday.
