Gilbert At Carroll

Carroll hung tough until the 6th inning as Gilbert got through their lineup for the 4th time in the game helping them score 8-runs in the 6th to blow the game open. Carroll had a chance to score in the 1st but stranded Kyra Hosenfelt at 3rd base and trailed 1-0 going to the 2nd. Gilbert scored a run in both the 1st and 2nd innings, then added 3 in both the 4th and 5th, setting up their big inning. The Tigers defense was solid most of the game with only 2 errors going into the 6th, but they made 4 errors in the 6th to extend the Gilbert inning. Clare Newton had a big night at the plate for Gilbert going 3-5 with a single, double and a 2-run home run.

Kyra Hosenfelt singled in the bottom of the 1st for Carroll, stole 2nd base and moved to 3rd on a wild pitch. She was stranded their when the inning came to an end. Carroll didn’t get another hit until Kyla Owen singled with 1-out in the 6th. Tahlia Hahn reached on a fielders choice but Carroll wasn’t able to advance her. Gilbert got a 2-run home run from Clare Newton in the 5th to open a 6-0 lead. They blew it open in the 6th with the first eight batters scoring. An error started the inning and Gilbert followed with a single, walk, single with an error, fielders choice, single that drove in a pair of runs, a fielders choice and back-to-back Carroll errors. Emma Danner picked up a nice looking strikeout to end the 6th, but Carroll trailed 14-0.

Kyra Hosenfelt and Kyla Owen both singled for Carroll with Hosenfelt having a stolen base.

The Tigers fall to 0-7 overall and will host Denison Schleswig on KIKD 106.7 on Thursday.

Kuemper grabbed control of the game early with Kaylie Wolterman tripling to score 2-runs and the Knights built a 3-0 lead in the 1st. They had to hold on in the 7th with Harlan 3-runs and having a runner at 2nd base when the game ended. A 2-run 6th for turned out to be the insurance runs the Knights needed.

Chloe Gehling put down a nice bunt to open the bottom 1st, followed by another strong bunt by Ellee Schreck putting a pair of runners on for Kuemper. Charlotte Schwabe flew out to left but scored Gehling from 3rd. A Claire Venner walk put two runners on and Kaylie Wolterman ripped a triple, driving both runners in. Harlan responded with a run in the 2nd on a Kuemper error and a Cyclone single. Kuemper threatened in the 3rd with Charlotte Schwabe, Addison Schon and Claire Venner singling on three straight at-bats. The Knights had the bases loaded with 1-out but didn’t score. Kaylie Wolterman had her second big hit of the game with runners on in the 5th, doubling home Charlotte Schwabe and Abrey Pudenz. Kuemper led 5-1 going into the 6th but Harlan wasn’t done yet. A Kuemper error and a base hit led to another unearned run and Harlan was down 5-2 going to the bottom of the 6th. Chloe Gehling ignited the offense again, bunting her way on base. She stole 2nd and Ellee Schreck walked, Gehling scored on a wild pitch and Schreck moved to 3rd on a single by Charlotte Schwabe. Schreck scored on a sac fly by Addison Schon and Kuemper led 7-2. A 1-out single led to back-to-back base hits for Harlan in the 7th. A Cyclone triple drove in a pair of runs and a Kuemper error scored another Cyclone run, putting a runner at 2nd with 1-out and Kuemper holding onto a 7-5 lead. Charlotte Schwabe got a big strikeout and induced a popup to Morgan Masching in foul territory down the 3rd base line to end the game.

Kaylie Wolterman had a pair of hits with a double and a triple, driving in 4 RBI. Charlotte Schwabe had 3 hits, driving in a run. Schwabe earned the win in the circle, going all 7 innings, allowing 7 hits and 3 earned runs with 5 strikeouts. Chloe Gehling had a pair of hits and scored twice and Ellee Schreck scored a pair of runs and had a base hit.

The Knights improved to 4-5 overall and will head to St Albert on Thursday.

The Raiders scored 7-runs in the 1st inning and cruised to their fourth win in their first-four games this season. They batted eleven girls in the 1st, collecting five hits and earning three walks. They added 5-runs in the 2nd inning on five straight hits with two of them doubles. Miranda Gerdes and Makenzie Friedman combined to throw 4 innings, allowing 4 hits and 1 earned run and the defense played well behind them, committing one error that allowed 1 unearned run.

Sarah Bontrager singled to score Addisen Ehler in the 1st inning, starting a landslide for the Raiders. Lauryn Lally grounded out but drove in a Chloe Bieret. Denae Thayer singled to drive in Makenna Steiger before Miranda Gerdes bunted for a base hit, driving in another run. Jordin Carroll added a single with an RBI and scored the final run of the inning on a ground out by Addisen Ehler. Miranda Gerdes struck out all three batters she faced in the bottom 1st and the Raiders offense went back to work. Lauryn Lally singled with 1-out, followed by a single from Makenna Steiger, scoring Lally. Denae Thayer singled and Miranda Gerdes doubled, scoring Steiger. Jordin Carroll added a double to score Thayer and Gerdes and Lilly Lode gave the Raiders six straight hits with a single to score Carroll. Emmetsburg scored an unearned run in the bottom 2nd but East Sac led 12-1. The Raiders added 3 more runs in the 3rd and held the E-Hawks to 1 run and four hits the rest of the game.

Jordin Carroll had three hits with a double, 4 RBI and scored twice. Miranda Gerdes had 3 hits with a double and 2 RBI. She earned the win, going 3 innings with 3 hits and 1 earned run while earning 7 strikeouts. Lauryn Lally had a pair of hits with 2 RBI and scored 2 runs. Lilly Lode had  pair of hits and an RBI. Denae Thayer had 2 hits and scored twice. Macy Monahan scored 2 runs and Sarah Bontrager had a base hit and scored twice.

East Sac moves to 4-0 and will head to OABCIG on Thursday.

Riley Miller had one of her best nights at the plate and pitched well as Exira-EHK-Audubon bounced back from their first loss of the season to earn a nice win. The Spartans first-three batters combined to go 6-6 with three-doubles, score 6-runs and drive in 4-runs. Exira-EHK-Audubon scored 3-runs in the 1st inning, then separated themselves with two more in the 3rd. St Albert had one base runner through three innings as Riley Miller struck out seven of the first-nine batters she faced and nine of the first-twelve. The Saintes scored a run in the 6th inning and threatened to add another run but Miller got out of trouble with a strikeout.

Anna Larsen walked to start the game and Lucy Stanerson singled. Riley Miller doubled to score both runners and scored later to stretch the lead to 3-0. A leadoff single by Anna Larsen in the 3rd started another run with Miller doubling to drive in another run. Riley Miller scored later in the inning and the Spartans led 5-0. Another Anna Larsen hit, this time a double in the 5th to leadoff the inning, led to another Spartan run. Riley Miller added another single helping the Spartans go up 6-0.

Riley Miller went all 7 innings, allowing 7 hits with no earned runs with 11 strikeouts. She added three hits with 2 doubles and 4 RBI while scoring twice. Anna Larsen had 2 hits with a double and scored 3 runs and Lucy Stanerson had a base hit and scored a run.

The Spartans improved to 5-1 overall heading in to their road game on Thursday at Treynor.

IKM-Manning dropped a heart breaker at home on Wednesday as Panorama scored a run in the top of the 7th to take their first lead of the game. The Panthers tied the game in the 5th after IKM-Manning had scored in the bottom 4th to lead 3-2. The Wolves scored first, going up 1-0 in the 1st. Panorama tended to have an answer all night, scoring in the 2nd to tie the game at 1. The Wolves went back up with a run in the 2nd and held the 2-1 lead into the 4th when Panorama scored to tie it again. IKM-Manning scored their final run in the bottom 4th but the lead was short lived as the Panthers tied it in the 5th. The Wolves continue to play well, hitting the ball well with nine hits. The defense has been improved this season but had a few errors, allowing a couple unearned runs.

Hannah McKinney had a double as did Anna Stangl with Stangl adding and RBI. Alikxa McGinn led the Wolves with a pair of hits including a double. Kadynce Ketcham and Karlee Arp both singled and scored a run and Taylor Beckendorf doubled and scored a run. Keagan Eischeid pitched well, going 7 innings, allowing 7 hits and 2 earned runs with 6 strikeouts.

The Wolves fell to 2-3 overall and will host AHSTW on Thursday.

The Rockets opened the season on the road against a ranked Woodbine team that had five games under their belts before Wednesday. The Tigers offense clicked, scoring in all three innings with the 2nd inning their big inning. They scored 9-runs in the 2nd, building an 11-0 lead. They added a pair of runs in the 3rd inning to end the game.

Gabbie Hudling finished with base hit and a walk for the Rockets.

Ar-We-Va is off again until Tuesday when they host Storm Lake St Mary’s.

The Crusaders started well with Anna Hart getting on base and scoring, giving them a 1-0 lead. Ogden answered in the bottom half, scoring 11-runs to take control of the game early. The Bulldogs added 5 more runs in the 2nd and finished the game in the 3rd.

Anna Hart and Aubrey Hofbauer both had a pair of hits with Hart doubling and scoring.

The Crusaders fall to 0-4 overall and will travel to Boyer Valley on Friday.
