Girls State Singles and Doubles Tennis Results Saturday, May 31st
Kaylie Simons finished 5th at this years State Singles Tournament, winning both of her matches on Saturday without dropping a set. She defeated Natalie Steele of Fairfield in the Consolation Semifinals 7-6 (7-4), 6-0 before earning her 5th place medal with a 7-6 (7-2), 6-2 win in the 5th place match against Gabi Jacobs of Shenandoah.
Sophia Tidgren and Charlotte Schwabe finished 7th in the doubles tournament, falling in the Consolation Semifinals 6-2, 6-2 to Peyton Klooster and Adria Neymeyer of Aplington Parkersburg but bounced back to top Harley Askelsen and Payton Askelsen of Ballard 6-2, 3-6, 1-0 (10-4) in the 7th place match.
The Kuemper Girls face Cedar Rapids Xavier on Monday in the semifinals of the State Team Tennis Tournament in Pella.
