Exira-EHK-Audubon earned a win in their season opener while IKM-Manning suffered a loss in their home and season opener with the Spartans scoring 7-runs in the 4th inning to pull away. Both pitchers Keagan Eischeid for IKM-Manning and Riley Miller for Audubon were strong early. Eischeid allowed a double to Riley Miller in the 1st but struck out the other three batters she faced. Miller was sharp all game, allowing only two baserunners in her four innings. An error in the 3rd inning and another in the 4th inning helped extend innings for the Spartans and they took advantage.
IKM-Manning had a chance to strike first with Keagan Eischeid singled and Macy Rasmussen running for her. Rasmussen moved to 2nd on a nice sac bunt by Karlee Arp, then stole 3rd with two outs. She was stranded at 3rd. Hannah McKinney singled for the Wolves in the 3rd but was stranded at 2nd. Riley Miller doubled to right-center in the 1st inning but Maya King (who courtesy ran) was stranded at 3rd. The Spartans stranded Abby Wanser at 1st in the 2nd inning. They got things rolling in the 3rd. Jordan Mulford singled to start the rally and Anna Larsen reached on an error. After a Riley Miller walk, Zoey Rasmussen singled to score the Spartans third run of the inning. The Spartans executed a nice double steal to score Anna Larsen, putting them up 2-0. Abby Wanser had a great night at the plate. She walked to start the 4th and doubled later in the inning to score a pair of runs. Anna Larsen singled and Jordan Mulford also had a base hit in the 4th. The Spartans scored 7-runs on three hits, adding five stolen bases as they bunted and ran the bases well. The Wolves went in order in the bottom 4th to end the game.
Exira-EHK-Audubon starts the season 1-0 with a home game with Underwood on Wednesday. IKM-Manning sits 0-1 and will host Kuemper on Wednesday.

Glidden-Ralston and South Central Calhoun opened up their softball seasons on Tuesday. The game lasted 4 innings as Glidden-Ralston really found their game tonight. Glidden-Ralston was able to strike early as 5 of the top 6 batters scored in the 1st inning. Glidden-Ralston led 5-0 after the 1st inning. In the 2nd inning SCC had two batters get on base by way of walk and than they were stranded their to go into the bottom of the inning. In the bottom of the 2nd, Glidden managed 3 more runs as Kassidy Wenck and Jenna Subbert scored. Jaelyn Subbert stepped in the box in the 2nd and hit a single shot home run as well. The 3rd inning saw SCC find their first hit as Morgan McChesney got a single. They would ultimately end up scoreless. Glidden-Ralston added their final 6 runs in the 3rd as they had 6 different batters score.

Kuemper softball opened up their season with a doubleheader against Shenandoah on Tuesday. The first game was a great season opener as the Knights found their way on offense. Kuemper got their first bit of offense on the board in the 3rd inning as they scored 3 runs. Shenandoah cut it back to 3-2 in the 4th as they scored 2. Nobody scored until 2 innings later as Kuemper scored 4 and got the 7-2 win in the first game.

Kuemper really got it going in the second game as they 12-0 Shenandoah. The Knights scored in all but 1 inning in this second game. Chloe Gehling scored 3 of the 10 runs for the Knights. They put together 3 runs in the 1st inning. The second inning was the same as they 4 runs in the 2nd inning. They went scoreless in the 3rd. 4th inning is where they brought it home as they found 3 more runs to push the lead to 10. A pretty all around solid game from the Knights as the start the year 2-0.
