Kuemper baseball opened the season on the road at Treynor on Tuesday. The Knights struggled on offense tonight as they drove no runs in. In the 1st inning the Knights had three flyouts from their top three. The rest of the night came a little similar with 4 hits on the night. Tristin Jansen, Aaron McDermott, Landon Pottebaum, and Ryan Sundrup all had one hit a piece. They struck out 10 times at the plate with Treynor having two pitchers. 

The Knights start the season 0-1 as they will travel to East Sac on Wednesday.

Adam Obrecht was nearly flawless on the hill and the Wheelers got their bats rolling to open the season, collecting 15 hits in a 20-3 win that lasted 5 innings. Obrecht went the distance, allowing 2 hits and no earned runs with 8 strikeouts.  Audubon never trailed and put the game away with 8-runs in the top of the 5th inning. They had eight different players collect a hit and six drive in at least one run with eight players scoring a run.

Brody Schultes walked to open the game and moved to 2nd on a single by Carson Wessel. The Wheelers had a nice 2-out rally, starting with a single to centerfield by Jack Stanerson, scoring Schults and Wessel. Stanerson scored the final run on an error and the Wheelers led 3-0. Griswold responded with a pair of unearned runs in the bottom of the 1st, scoring on a pair of errors by the Wheelers defense. Audubon responded in the 2nd inning with a pair of runs on a Colton Hansen single. A quick one-two-three by Obrecht brought the Wheelers back to the plate in the 3rd. Hayden Larsen singled to score Gabe Jensen and Carson Wessel singled, scoring Aiden Kjergaard and Hayden Larsen.  A 3-run top of the 4th pushed the Wheelers lead to 12-2 but Griswold got a run back in the bottom of the 4th. Audubon drew four straight walks to open the 5th and Aiden Kjergaard singled to score Mason Steckler and Jorgen Nowatzke. Carson Wessel finished the game 5-5 with 6 RBI, adding a single to score Brody Schultes and Aiden Kjergaard. Carson Wessel and Mason Kasperbauer scored on a Griswold error to cap the 8-run inning. Adam Obrecht got the Tigers in order in the bottom of the 5th to end it.

Carson Wessel was 5-5 with 6 RBI and scored 3 times, Aiden Kjergaard had three hits, doubling, driving in 2 RBI and scoring 3-runs. Jack Stanerson had 4 RBI and scored twice and Adam Obrecht earned the win, going 5 innings, allowing 2 hits and no earned runs.

The Wheelers open the season 1-0 and will travel to IKM-Manning on Tuesday, May 27th.

IKM-Manning At Ridge View

IKM-Manning traveled north for their season opener, falling in six innings to Ridge View. The Wolves struggled at the plate against a good pitcher in Blake Myrtue, striking out 15 times. The defense played well, holding the Raptors to a run in the 2nd inning and a run in the 4th. IKM-Manning was down 2-0 entering the 5th when the game began to slip away. Ridge View scored 3-runs in the 5th, then added 5 in the bottom 6th to end the game.

Isaac Blankman had the lone hit for the Wolves with Brandon Enenbach walking twice. The Wolves threw three pitchers, combining to throw 5 2/3 innings, allowing 4 earned runs on 5 hits with 7 strikeouts and 4 walks.

IKM-Manning travels to Griswold on Wednesday. The Tigers lost to Audubon on Tuesday 20-3.

South Central Calhoun hosted St. Edmond on Tuesday to open their season. It was a nailbiter to say the least as SCC held a lead to open the game and held strong. St. Edmond stormed back in the later half but could not close out. SCC scored 3 runs in the 1st and 2nd innings to go up 6-2 early. St. Edmond found the board in the 2nd than not till the 6th as they would score 3 and make it 7-5. SCC had scored in the 4th and than held strong until the 7th when St. Edmond scored 1 to bring it within one run. SCC managed to hold off and won by a score of 7-6 to start the season 1-0.
