Boys Tennis Results from Wednesday, May 14th

Kuemper at Red Oak for Districts

Kuemper traveled to Red Oak for districts on Wednesday. They sent one man across the finish line to state in Mason Reicks. They had everyone perform well in a very good season for the Knights.  They will have a chance to advance as a team later on, but Mason Reicks is the 1st Knight to go. Reicks won 2-0 in all three matches up until the finals. In doubles they had both teams win the first round than fall in the second.

Singles

First Round 

Mason Reicks of Kuemper won 6-0, 6-0 vs Oliver Juranek of St Albert

Creighton Bird of Clarinda won 6-1, 6-2 over Emmitt Juergens of Kuemper

Second Round

Mason Reicks of Kuemper won 6-0, 6-0 over Levi Rystrom of Shenendoah

Semi-Finals

Mason Reicks of Kuemper won 6-0, 6-0 over Brady Cox of Clarinda

Finals

Mason Reicks of Kuemper won 3-6, 6-1, 1-0 (4) over Noah Narmi of St Albert

 

Doubles

First Round

Max Reincke and Landon Pottebaum of Kuemper won 6-0, 6-0 over Jack Smithers and Dylan Cutshall of Glenwood

Carter Running and Braxton Lu of Kuemper won 6-4, 6-3 over Reid Woodward and Gradyn O’Hara of Glenwood

Second Round

Lucas Sun and Teagan Brunk of Shenendoah won 6-2, 6-2 over Max Reincke and Landon Pottebaum of Kuemper

Luke Daoust and Ryan Lawrence of Shenendoah won 6-4, 6-0 over Carter Running and Braxton Lu of Kuemper

 

Audubon at Boone for Districts

Audubon had a strong showing on Wednesday with Isaac Jackson advancing into the semifinals in singles and finishing his outstanding career with a 3rd place medal. Jackson swept through his opening match, winning 6-0, 6-0. He added a 6-3, 6-0 win in the 2nd round, advancing into the semifinals where he faced Ethan Vellman of Newton. Jackson battled hard, sending almost every game to duece but fell in straight sets, moving into the 3rd place game. After dropping the 1st set against Wes Van Pelt of Boone, he rallied to win 6-4, 11-9 to claim 3rd. Sawyer McClain and Colin Hartl earned a win in doubles, topping Ramsey Hussing and Dale Scheuring of Harlan 6-1, 6-2. They finished their day 1-1 with a hard fought 6-3, 6-3 loss in the 2nd round. McClain was outstanding all day, covering a lot of the court and having big serves while Hartl was tough at the net, especially in the 2nd round match.

Kayden Otten and Fred Harris fell in their opening round doubles match and Carson Matthews earned three wins in the 2nd set of his opening round singles match but fell in straight sets.

The Wheelers will look to advance in team competition on Saturday as they face St Albert at Graham Park in Carroll.

Isaac Jackson of Audubon won 6-0, 6-0 over Jash Abbiehl of St Edmnods 

2nd Round

Isaac Jackson of Audubon won 6-3, 6-0 over Grant Fink of Denison Schleswig 

Semifinals

Ethan Valtman of Newton won 6-0, 6-0 over Isaac Jackson of Audubon

3rd Place

Isaac Jackson of Audubon won 1-6, 6-4, 11-9 over Wes Van Pelt of Boone

Eli Dickinson and Drew Fausch of North Polk won 6-0, 6-1 over Kayden Otten and Fred Harris of Audubon

Sawyer McClain and Colin Hartl of Audubon won 6-1, 6-2 over Ramsey Hussing and Dale Scheuring of Harlan 

2nd Round
