Kuemper At Hawkeye 10 Conference Meet At Red Oak
Kuemper had a strong day, winning a singles and doubles championship along with taking 3rd and 4th place. They finished in 2nd place, one point behind Clarinda. The Cardinals had a pair of champions and two-3rd place finishes. They held off the Knights 28-27 with Shenandoah in 3rd place with 23 points. Kuemper went 45-31 in games in singles play, going 4-2 in matches. The Knights were 44-22 in games in doubles with a 5-1 record.
Ella Schwarte won the #2 singles with a 3-0 match record and a 24-13 games record. She won her quarterfinal match 8-3 before knocking off top seeded Jaylan Gray of Shenandoah 8-5 in the semifinals. She earned the title with an 8-5 win over 2nd seeded Ellie O’Donovan of St Albert in the finals. Sophia Tidgren and Charlotte Schwabe won the Knights other title, winning #1 doubles with an 3-0 match record and going 25-11 in games. Tidgren and Schwabe dominated their way into the finals with an 8-1 win in the quarterfinals and a 8-1 win over Sasha Wurster and Hollynn Rieck of Creston in the semifinals. They faced Addisyn McNeal and Liv Allely of Lewis Central in the finals. Tidgren and Schwabe pulled out a 9-8 (5) win to claim the title.
Bella Lu and Kaia Neumann were 3rd in the #2 doubles. They earned 8-1 win in the quarterfinals before falling 8-3 in the semifinals. Lu and Neumann took 3rd by beating Reese Meaike and Macie Meaike of Lewis Central for 3rd place, winning 8-2. Kaylie Simons was 4th in #1 singles, earning a 8-1 win in the quarterfinals. Simons fell in the Semifinals, moving into the 3rd place match. She lost 9-8 (4) to Naia Ojeda of Harlan for 3rd place.
