Audubon At Atlantic Tournament
Audubon had a strong day at the Atlantic Tournament, finishing in 4th place overall, going 4-2 in singles matches and 3-3 in doubles matches. The Wheelers were 10-4 in sets in singles play with Briley Belnap and Alice Adam both taking 5th place. Belnap in #1 singles and Adam in #2 singles both dropped tough 1st round matches. They both won the opening set but fell in 2-1 with 11-9 losses in the tiebreaker 3rd set. Belnap recoverd to win 6-0, 6-2, advancing into the 5th place match, winning 6-1, 6-0 to go 5-2 in sets and 2-1 in matches. Adam also recovered well winning 6-0, 6-0 in her 2nd round match and moved into the 5th place match with good momentum. She cruised to her 5th place finish with a 6-0, 6-0 win, finishing her day 5-2 in sets. Grace Zaiger and Samantha Warnaca in #1 doubles won a tough 1st round match with every set going to the tiebreaker. They won 6-6 (6-8), 6-6 (7-4), 10-6, advancing into the semifinals against the top seeded team from Creston. They fell in straight sets in the semifinals and battled for 3rd place, losing 2-0. They finished in 4th place, going 2-5 in sets. Rachael Rynearson and MaKenna Nichols played in #2 doubles and lost their opening round match 6-1, 6-2. The quickly recovered, winning their 2nd round 6-3, 6-1 to advance into the 5th place match. The pair finished 5th with a 6-4, 6-2 win, completing a 4-2 day in sets. The Wheelers were 6-7 in sets in doubles play.
