Girls Soccer Results Thursday, April 17th

The wind impacted the game with Ballard taking the early lead. Carroll settled in as the half went on, moving the ball up the field well. That helped them get a free kick off the side box. Jersey Sporrer had a strong pass, placing the ball well with Anna Steinkamp scoring on the play. That pulled Carroll within 4-1 at half. The Tigers got the wind in the 2nd half and took advantage with Sadie Kelly taking a pass down the middle of the field from Leah Nystrom and scored past the goalie. Ballard was able to get a few good looks in the 2nd half and scored a pair of goals to hold on for a 6-2 win.

Carroll had 8 shots with 4 shots on goal. Anna Steinkamp and Sadie Kelly both scored a goal and Marin Overmohle had 22 saves.

Carroll slipped to 1-5 overall and 0-3 in the Raccoon River Conference. They host Carlisle on Monday.

All three goals in the game were scored in the 2nd half with East Sac taking the lead but Harlan scoring a pair of goals late, then holding off a flurry from the Raiders to earn the win. East Sac had to battle the wind in the 1st half and did a great job against Harlan. The Cyclones didn’t get any good looks in the 1st half as the game was scoreless at half. The Raiders had the wind at their back in the 2nd half and it paid off quickly. They kept the ball in the offensive zone, getting 5 shots in the first- 10 minutes. Sarah Bontrager scored on a double pass from Chloe Bieret to Makynli Hunziker who found Bontrager. East Sac led 1-0 with 28.53 left in the game. The defense continued to play well but Harlan broke through with a long shot, tying the game at 1 with 10:02 remaining. The Cyclones took their first lead of the game a few minutes later. East Sac pushed up, getting 4 shots on goal in the final five minutes but Harlan made stops each time.

Sarah Bontrager scored the Raiders goal as East Sac had 10 shots on goal. Chloe Bieret and Makynli Hunziker both had an assist and Denae Thayer finished with 19 saves.
