Brincks Exteriors Sports Report: Boys Golf Recaps from Thursday

Boys Golf Results Thursday, April 10th

South Central Calhoun had all four golfers that scored, shoot between 41 and 43 with Charlie Nattress and Halas Steig both earning Runner-Up Medalist honors. That balance allowed them to slip by East Sac which had their top four shoot between 40 and 45 with Jack Gullett smartly playing his way around the course to earn Medalist honors. The Titans finished with a 167 with East Sac shooting a 172. Glidden Ralston was 3rd in the team standings with a 184, having all four of their golfers shoot between 43 and 49, led by Carson Peters. The teams fought through some windy and not much sun shine with all three groups feeling they didn’t play as well as they were capable of with the wind playing a factor in that.

Charlie Nattress and Halas Steig led the Titans with both shooting a 41. Nattress had three 4 par on holes 3, 6 and 9. Halas Steig had three par on 1, 3 and 5. Caleb Gaffney finished with a 42 with a pair on holes 2 and 7 and Caleb Juhl added a 43 with back to back par on holes 3 and 4.

Jack Gullett earned Medalist with a 40. He stayed in the middle of the fairway most of the round and played his trouble shots very well, keeping him from a big number. Gullett had a birdie on hold 3 and shot par on holes 7 and 9. Zach Jacobsen added a 42 with three straight par on holes 1, 2 and 3. Carter Erritt, Kason Schroeder and Tucker Grosely all shot 45. Erritt shot par on holes 5 and 9.

Carson Peters led Glidden Ralston with a 43 with a birdie on hole 4, nearly having a hole-in-one as the ball lipped out of the cup. Peters added a par on hole 1. Jackson Whitaker and Greyson Renze both shot 46 with Whitaker shooting par on hole 4 and Renze adding par on hole 4. Daniel Thooft was strong, adding a 40 with a par on hole 1.

Coon Rapids Bayard, Ogden and Interstate 35 At Boone

Coon Rapids Bayard  had a nice bounce back on Thursday, golfing well and finishing in 2nd place with a 169. Boone won the meet on their home course shooting a 158 with Ogden finishing with a 178 and Interstate 35 shooting a 186. The Toreadors earned Medalist and Runner-Up Medalist with Austin Maach and Max Roelfs both shooting 39. Logan Kenyon just missed out on a medal, finishing with a 40, followed by Max Shirbroun adding a 41. The Crusaders were pretty balanced with all six golfers shooting between 40 and 47 with the top five shooting 44 or below. Gavin Heiderscheit, Landon Cook and Eli McAlister all shot 44.

The Crusaders head to Greene County on Saturday for the Rams tournament.

Underwood and Harlan At IKM-Manning

IKM-Manning fell in their home and season opener on Thursday. The Wolves shot well, shooting a 206 with all four of the golfers that scored shooting from 49 to 54. Harlan led the team standings with a 185, having Jonas Reynolds shoot a 39 and two other players in the upper 40’s. Underwood edged the Wolves, shooting a 203, having two guys in the middle to upper 40’s. Jonas Reynolds earned Medalist for Harlan with a 37 and Miles Forbush was Runner-Up Medalist with a 46 for Underwood. Layton Lorenzen led the Wolves with a 49, followed by Kael Renze with a 51, Ashton Ahrenholtz adding a 52 and Kasche Huehn shooting a 54.

The Wolves also battled Underwood in a dual that had been postponed from Monday, falling 203 to 2-6. Miles Forbush of Underwood earned Medalist honors with a 46 and Nick Hackett of Underwood was Runner-Up Medalist with a 47.

The Wolves head to Treynor on Friday.
