Landon Petersen scored the only goal in a defensive battle as the Tigers earned their second straight win to start the season. Carroll was outstanding on defense with the backline of Jameson Polking, Quinten Polking and Maddox Bellinghausen all having great nights in front of Jeisson Avilez, who finished with 5 saves. Winterset tried to blitz the Carroll defense in the 2nd half, outshooting Carroll 10-1 in corner kicks. Carroll did a nice job controlling the middle of the pitch with Landon Petersen, Kieran Polking and Peter Okumu.
Carroll scored at the 23:00 mark in the 1st half with Landon Petersen scoring from just outside the 18-yard line. He made a nice shot, on a direct kick, getting it over the wall and keeping it away from the goalie.
Jeisson Avilez made 5 saves in goal, Jameson Polking, Quinten Polking and Landon Petersen all had 1 shot on goal with Petersen scoring in the 1st half.
Carroll improves to 2-0 overall and 1-0 in the Raccoon River Conference. They head to Bondurant Farrar on Monday.
