Carroll looked sharp in their season opener, dominating the ball on their side of the field. The offense kept flooding the zone, putting pressure on the Trojans defense. Landon Petersen helped the Tigers take charge early, scoring a hat trick in the 1st half with three goals as the Tigers built a 4-0 lead at half. Carroll didn’t allow Atlantic many opportunities on their offensive end in the 1st half. The 2nd half was more of the same as Carroll kept the pressure on, scoring a pair of quick goals to put the match away. Carroll was able to get a lot of players in the game, subbing freely early in the 2nd half and rotating guys in most of the 2nd half. They added a pair of goals with just over 10:00 remaining to push the lead to 8-0. The Tigers nearly scored several more times but the Atlantic defense made a couple nice plays. The Tigers defense was sharp all night with Jeisson Avilez facing 4 shots on goal with Carroll taking 20 shots on goal. Carroll scored on penalty kicks by Kieran Polking in the 2nd half in the and Landon Petersen in the 1st half.
Landon Petersen finished the night with 3 goals and 3 assists with 6 shots on goal. Kieran Polking added 2 goals on 5 shots on goal. Peter Okumu, Trevin Weber and Aden Gustafson all had a goal. Jeisson Avilez ended the game with 4 saves.
The Tigers are 1-0 as they prepare to head to Earlham to face Winterset on Friday.
