Girls Wrestling 

2nd Team 

Sadie Smith- Kuemper 

The Junior put together a strong year for the Knights, surpassing 75 career wins. She helped the Knights earn their first ever team dual win. She continues to grow as a wrestler, becoming stronger on her feet while improving her skills on the mat. She ended the season with 19 wins by fall in her 27 wins. Smith had a stretch from December 9th to January 4th when she went 7-0 in matches wrestled. 

 

Jordan Mulford- Audubon 

Mulford grew a lot in her junior season, earning her way to the State Tournament. She gained confidence as the season went on, learning her strengths on the mat. Her best stretch came in the middle of January, going 6-1 with all six of her wins coming by fall. Only one of her wins during that stretch lasted past the 1st period and two of them came in under a minute. 

 

Elena Harbour- Audubon 

The Junior had a career best season, earning 24 wins, going 2-2 at the State Qualifying meet. Harbour took 3rd at the Atlantic Invitational and the Clarinda Tournament, wrestling her best late in the season. She went 7-2 during the Clarinda Tournament and Kuemper Tournament in early January. 22 of her 24 wins were by fall. 

 

Emma Grossman- Carroll High 

The junior missed the early part of the season but hit the mats hard in late January. She showed she hadn’t lost any of her skills that helped her qualify for State last season. She had a stretch during the middle of January where she went 7-2 with six of those wins by fall. She finished her shortened season 17-10. 

 

Charlotte Schwabe- Kuemper

Schwabe wrestled for the first time in her career and showed great strength and skills from the start. The sophomore ended her season with 18 wins, winning her first-three matches by fall. Of her 18 wins, 17 of them came via fall. Schwabe took 3rd at the West Central Valley Invite and was 2nd at the Treynor Invite. 

 

1st Team 

Meia Hefley- South Central Calhoun 

Hefley had a strong sophomore season, finishing 33-17. She was consistent all season, only dropping more than two matches in a row once this season while winning three more matches in a row five times, including a strong close to the season winning six in a row in late January. She won three of them by fall and three more by decision. 

 

Emery Kramer- South Central Calhoun 

The Freshman was one of the top wrestlers in the area, qualifying for the State Meet while winning 28 matches. She earned a win by fall at the State Tournament. Kramer gained confidence in her skills as the season progressed, helping her take 2nd place at the State Qualifying meet. She was 6-2 in her last eight matches heading to the State Tournament. 

 

Bri Kiger- Carroll 

Kiger had to battle through so many issues this season but still managed to qualify for State. She earned a pair of wins at State, finishing in 8th place, becoming the first local wrestler to qualify for the podium at the State Girls Tournament. Kiger missed a good portion of the first month of the season. She started quickly in January, winning the Kuemper Tournament and taking 2nd place at the Trojan Tangle. Kiger ended the season with 97 career takedowns.  The junior should have an outstanding senior season. 

 

Emma Daniels- Carroll 

Daniels was one of the elite wrestlers in the area for the second year in a row. She earned several big wins this season, including a win by fall against the number one ranked wrestler in the state. The junior ended the season 36-5, becoming the second Carroll Tiger to earn a spot on the podium at the State Tournament, finishing in 6th place. She had three wins at the State Tournament, all coming by fall.  Daniels set a new school record with 36 wins and 206 total team points. She is the first- three time qualifier for Carroll Girls Wrestling. She earned her 80th career win. 

 

Wrestler of the Year

Macy Rasmussen- Audubon 

Rasmussen was tremendous in her freshman season, living up to the high expectations she arrived with. She ended her season with only three losses, all coming at the State Tournament. She finished 6th place at State, earning three wins, with two by fall and the other by Major Decision. She started the season strong, winning the Western Iowa Tournament and went on to win every tournament and match she wrestled during the regular season. She rolled through her first-two matches at the State Qualifying meet, winning both by fall. 30 of her wins this season came by fall. 

 

Coach of the Year

Maryssa Soder- Audubon 

Soder hit the ground running in her first year as the Wheelers Wrestling Coach. Three of her seven wrestlers were freshmen while three others were juniors. The team grew as the season progressed with all of their wrestlers showing growth. Her strong knowledge of the sport helped her develop strong technical wrestlers, having two qualify for State and three named to the KCIM All-Rewind team.
