Audubon, Carroll, Coon Rapids Bayard, Kuemper and South Central Calhoun At State Wrestling

Karson Wuebker of South Central Calhoun advanced into the quarterfinals round on Thursday in Class 1A 106 pounds. After falling down 3-0 early in his 2nd round match, he took control against Avery Vacek, winning by tech fall 19-3. He had gained control of the match by late in the 2nd period, getting into his offensive attacks. Wuebker faces Kaiden Belinsky of Don Bosco in the quarterfinals. Wuebker wasn’t the only Titan to earn a win. Jace Pedersen moved into the 2nd round with a win by fall in the 1st round. Pedersen sat out to start the 2nd period against Jack Sheeder of ACGC to get Sheeder on his back. He won by fall in 2:15. He battled Trenton Warner of Nodaway Valley, the top ranked wrestler in Class 1A 285 pounds. Pedersen lost by fall in 1:45. Caleb Hoffman of Kuemper won his 1st round match in Class 2A 120 pounds. Hoffman faced Drake Howard of Sergeant Bluff Luton, a rematch of the State Qualifying meet final. He earned some revenge, winning 7-4. Hoffman trailed 3-0 before grabbing the lead and holding on for the win. He moved into the 2nd round against Mitchell Schmauss of Crestwood. Hoffman struggled to get into his offense and lost by fall in 1:14. Owen Klocke of Carroll earned a win for the Tigers in his opening round match in Class 2A 157 pounds. He used his style to get a takedown against Aiden Ortega of Center Point Urbana. Klocke picked up a win by fall in 3:02. He faced Tucker Wheeler of Prairie City Monroe in the 2nd round, losing by major decision, 13-4. Coby Pierce of Kuemper competed in Class 2A 215 pounds. He came out aggressive, building an 8-0 lead against Marcus Ball of Greene County. Pierce had faced him earlier this season and stayed aggressive, winning by fall in 3:02. His 2nd round match was against Dre Smithburg of Fairfield, losing by fall in 2:51.

Leyton Elmquist, Lane Elmquist and Jon Rasmussen of Audubon went 0-3 on Wednesday, moving into the 2nd round consolation on Thursday afternoon. Caleb Hoffman and Coby Pierce of Kuemper each went 1-1 while Reid Steger and Owen Nepple both went 0-2. All four wrestlers will compete Thursday afternoon in the 2nd round consolations. Ethan Bauer and Treynor Cose of Coon Rapids Bayard both were 0-1 and will wrestle in 2nd round consolations on Thursday afternoon. Owen Klocke went 1-1 for Carroll with Quinten Polking and Michael Rowedder both went 0-1. All of them will wrestle on Thursday in the 2nd round consolations. Karson Wuebker of South Central Calhoun was 1-0 and wrestles in the quarterfinals on Thursday while Jace Pedersen was 1-1 and Cooper Nattress went 0-1. Pedersen and Nattress will both wrestle in 2nd round consolations on Thursday.
