Kuemper improved their record to 11-11, using a 28-0 run from late in the 2nd quarter until late in the 3rd quarter. They took control of the game late in the 1st quarter and blew it open to start the 3rd with a 20-0 run. Kuemper shared the basketball well and their defensive pressure created 16 steals, leading to easy baskets. Addy Anthofer, Cierra Pudenz and Morgan Masching all provided a spark off the bench in the 1st half.
Missouri Valley took their only lead at 2-0 to start the game but Kaylie Simons drained a three to give Kuemper to lead for good. The Knights built the lead to 16-6 with baskets from Karsyn Overmohle, Cierra Pudenz (a pair) Addy Anthofer and Elsa Tiefenthaler. Tiefenthaler had several assists during the run. The Knights led 19-8 at the end of the 1st quarter off a bucket from Addy Anthofer. Karsyn Overmohle hit a three to start the 2nd quarter and Elsa Tiefenthaler added a basket and Kuemper started to stretch the lead. Kaylie Simons made it 26-14 and Elta Tiefenthaler added a three, making it 29-17. A Big Red free throw pulled them within 29-18 but Kuemper closed the half on a 8-0 run, leading 37-18.
Kuemper scored the first-twenty points of the 3rd quarter, pushing the lead to 57-18. The Knights established Alivia Schenkelberg in the post in the 3rd and Charlotte Hackfort had a huge 3rd quarter, especially on the boards. The Knights led 58-22 at the end of the 3rd and played a lot of girls in the 2nd half. Missouri Valley made a run in the 4th quarter, cutting the deficit to 34 a couple of times.
Kaylie Simons led the Knights with 15 points with Cierra Pudenz adding 11 points. Elsa Tiefenthaler had a strong all-around game with 10 points, 8 assists and 4 steals. Karsyn Overmohle had 6 points and 3 steals with Charlotte Hackfort pulling down 7 rebounds.
The Knights head to Cherokee on Wednesday on KIKD 106.7. Cherokee defeated Greene County 67-13.

Carroll At Gilbert- Regular Season

Carroll battled foul trouble and a Gilbert team that played one of their better games of the season. Gilbert was able to attack the lane, getting Carroll in foul trouble. Carroll had two starters that got in foul trouble in the 1st half, limiting their minutes. Gilbert took advantage in the 2nd quarter. Carroll trailed 19-16 at the end of the 1st quarter but struggled to score in the 2nd quarter and trailed 38-25 at half. They battled back in the 3rd but had a pair of girls foul out and Gilbert was able to stretch their lead in the 4th.
Chloe Kock and Katelyn Aden led the Tigers with 14 points each with Olivia Rowedder adding 9 points and Sophia Tidgren with 7 points.
Carroll ends the regular season 16-6 and will host Storm Lake or Fort Dodge on Saturday on KKRL.
