The South Central Calhoun Titans advance in the class 2A postseason as they knock off Lawton-Bronson at home on Saturday. Both teams struggled on the offensive end with turnovers, which led to some easy baskets in transition. The game started really close and fast passed as the lead would be traded multiple times in the first quarter. SCC would jump out to an 11-10 lead in the quarter, but Lawton Bronson would close out on a 4-2 run. The Titans would trail 14-13 going to the second quarter. There were seven lead changes in the first quarter. SCC would find some rythme offensive in the second quarter as they would take the lead back at 15-14. The Titans would score Lawton-Bronson 15-9 in the quarter and would take a 28-23 lead at the half.
The three-point shot started to fall for SCC in the second half as they knocked down five three points in the second half. Four of them came from Blair Schleisman, who helped SCC grow its lead to double digits in the third quarter. The Titans would lead by as much as 14 in the quarter. SCC would lead 44-31, going to the fourth. In the fourth quarter, SCC struggled with turnovers and making a basket. Lawton-Bronson would go on a run and cut it to 47-40. The lead would be trimmed down to as many as five in the quarter, but Bre Patterson came up big when her team needed her the most. Patterson in the game was 15-18 from the free throw line, with eight of those makes coming in the fourth quarter. The Titans would go on to win 58-53.
South Central Calhoun had two players score in double figures as Bre Patterson scored a team-high 26 points. Patterson also pulled down nine rebounds in the win. Blair Schleisman chipped in 21 points for the Titans. Schleisman was also 5-10 from behind the three-point line. Sadie Wheelock added six steals. With the win, SCC moves to 10-12. They are back in action on Tuesday against Hinton.
