The Glidden-Ralston Wildcats open up their postseason with a win over Storm Lake St. Marys at home on Thursday. Glidden-Ralston started slow on the offensive end of the court but led the whole game. The Wildcats would jump out to a 13-4 lead going to the second quarter. Glidden-Ralston outscored Storm Lake St. Mary’s 10-8 in the quarter. They would lead 23-12 at the half. Glidden-Ralston would grow their lead in the second half. In the third quarter, GR added 19 points which was their best offensive quarter. GR took a 42-19 lead going to the fourth quarter. The Wildcats would add ten points in the quarter as they would go on to win 52-30.

Kassidy Wenck and Olivia Squibb had outstanding games as they scored a team-high 20 points each. Allison Snyder chipped in seven points. With the win, Glidden-Ralston moves to 7-14. The Wildcats are back in action on Tuesday against Coon Rapids-Bayard.

Ar-We-Va at River Valley

The Ar-We-Va Rockets wrapped up their season as they fell on the road to River Valley. Ar-We-Va knocked down six threes in the win but struggled on offense in the second half. The Rockets jumped out to a 3-0 lead to start the game and would grow it to 6-3. River Valley would go on a 14-3 run to end the first quarter, taking a 17-9 lead. Ar-We-Va would knock down some early shots in the second quarter as they cut into the River Valley lead at 19-16. River Valley would go on another run as they would lead 30-18 at the half. Ar-We-Va only managed 11 points in the second half as they struggled with turnovers. River Valley would grow their lead in the third quarter, outscoring Ar-We-Va 15-5. The lead would grow to 41-21. Ar-We-Va would add six points in the fourth quarter as they would lose 58-29.

Gabbie Hundling led the Rockets in scoring with 11 points. Four Ar-We-Va players scored in the loss. Amber Ragaller added eight points for the Rockets. Azaya Martinez chipped in six points. With the loss, Ar-We-Va ends their season at 3-19.

The Paton Churdan Rockets wrap up their season on the road as they traveled to Fort Dodge to take on St. Edmond on Thursday. Paton Churdan struggled on offense in the loss. St. Edmond would jump out to an early lead in the first quarter at 21-8. The Rockets would trail 41-15 at the end of the second quarter. St. Edmond continued to grow their lead in the second half. They outscored PC 19-7 in the third quarter. The Rockets went on to lose 73-24. Alivya Smith led the way offensively for PC as she recorded nine points in the loss. Kaliyah Minnihan and Grace Cullum each chipped in five points. With the loss, Paton Churdan’s season comes to an end at 1-20.

The IKM-Manning Wolves drop their regular season finale to a good MVAOCOU team on Thursday. The Wolves struggled with turnovers in the loss. MVAOCOU would jump out to an early double-digit lead in the first quarter. The Wolves would trail 27-6 at the end of the quarter. IKM-Manning would find success on offense in the second quarter, but MVAOCOU would grow their lead as they outscored the Wolves 21-19. IKM-Manning would trail 48-25 at the half. The Wolves struggled coming out of the locker room with turnovers as MVAOCOU would grow their lead again. The Wolves would go on to lose 81-46. IKM-Manning had two players score in double figures. They were led by Anna Stangl, who scored 13 points. Taylor Beckendorf chipped in 11 points and four steals. With the loss, IKM-Manning falls to 10-11. The Wolves are back in action on Tuesday against East Sac County.

The Spartans struggled in their season finale against 3rd ranked Newell Fonda. The Mustangs defensive pressure helped them score in transition, jumping out to a 21-6 lead at the end of the 1st quarter. Exira-EHK created some turnovers but weren’t able to capitalize as Newell Fonda pushed the lead to 47-13 at half. The Spartans played their best in the 3rd quarter scoring 17 of their 37 points in the game. Taryn Petersen led the Spartans with 17 points with Zoey Rasmussen and Jaelynn Petersen each scoring 6 points. The loss drops the Spartans to 16-5. They host Underwood to open postseason play on Monday on KIKD 106.7.
