Ar-We-Va kept trying to rally, pulling within six in the closing minutes but CAM had an answer for every Rockets run. The Rockets led early but never led after CAM went up 7-6 in the 1st quarter and built the lead to 11-6. Ar-We-Va trailed by one entering the 2nd quarter and pulled within 27-24 late in the 2nd quarter but were never able to tie the game. A 6-0 run by CAM pushed the lead to nine at half, 33-24. The Cougars scored the first-five points of the 3rd quarter and held the lead in double digits for a portion of the 2nd half. Ar-We-Va switched to a pressure defense and created some Cougar turnovers allowing them to cut the deficit to 45-43 early in the 4th quarter and 60-54 late but CAM hit clutch threes and scored at the rim.

Wyatt Ragaller had back-to-back baskets in the 1st quarter and Ar-We-Va led 4-2. The Cougars tied it at 4 but Wyatt Ragaller pushed Ar-We-Va back up 6-4. A CAM three gave the Cougars the lead for good as they went on a 7-0 run. Blayne Smith rallied the Rockets late in the quarter seven straight points as they trailed 14-13 at the end of the 1st quarter. Smith finished with 32 points and kept the Rockets close in the 2nd quarter, hitting a three to pull them within 18-16, then hit another three to cut it to 20-19. A Smith two pulled Ar-We-Va within 22-21 but CAM went on a 5-0 run to stretch their lead. A Hayden Studer three pulled Ar-We-Va within 27-24 but the Cougars closed the half on a 6-0 run.

The Cougars started the 2nd half on a 5-0 run to lead 38-24. Blayne Smith hit a two and moments later his a three, cutting the deficit to 38-29. The Rockets trailed by eleven when Blayne Smith scored a two, Wyatt Ragaller made a free throw and Blayne Smith added a free throw. A Devon Ehlers bucket made it 43-37 and Tyson VonGlan scored to make it 43-39 late in the 3rd quarter. Blayne Smith scored and Ar-We-Va was down 45-41 end of the 3rd. Derek Thomsen scored to start the 4th and Ar-We-Va had the momentum, down 45-43 but CAM answered with a 13-0 run. They appeared to be in control but Ar-We-Va kept fighting back. Wyatt Ragaller hit four free throws around a three from Blayne Smith and Ar-We-Va was down 58-51. Wyatt Ragaller hit a three and Ar-We-Va was down 60-54 but that is as close as they would get.

Blayne Smith had 32 points with 11 rebounds and 3 steals. Wyatt Ragaller had 17 points with 3 steals and Tyson VonGlad added 9 rebounds.

The loss drops Ar-We-Va to 15-6 heading into a postseason matchup with Paton Churdan at home on Monday on KCIM.

Coon Rapids Bayard clinched their share of the Rolling Valley Conference championship with the win, showing their new rankings in the poll on Monday was accurate. Glidden Ralston had a chance to finish the regular season above .500 but dropped their fourth straight game and enter the postseason looking to shoot the ball better. The game was tight in the 1st half with Coon Rapids Bayard leading 10-6 at the end of the 1st half. Both teams went on runs to start the game with Glidden Ralston going up 4-0 but Coon Rapids Bayard rallying to take the lead before the end of the 1st quarter. The Wildcats got their offense rolling in the 2nd quarter, hitting 3-3’s with three different players making one. They used an 8-4 run to end the 2nd quarter to tie the game at half.

Coon Rapids Bayard locked in defensively in the 2nd half, forcing the Wildcats to take contested shots. After a Lucas Christian three for Glidden Ralston the Crusaders took control of the game. Coon Rapids Bayard used a 6-0 run to end the 3rd and led 39-26. The Crusaders defense held Glidden Ralston to five points in the 4th and the offense kept executing well getting buckets from Caden Oswald, Ty Heydon and Cal Heydon to push the final score to 50-31.

Cal Heydon had 21 points with 10 rebounds, 4 Assists and 3 steals. Caden Oswald had 11 points and 3 assists and Ty Heydon had another double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds for Coon Rapids Bayard.

Jonathan Bergmeier paced the Wildcats with 12 points with Lucas Christian had 7 points. Dawson Majerus had 8 rebounds, Colby Wallace 6 rebounds and Waylon Hein added 5 rebounds.

The Crusaders wrap up the regular season at 19-2, sharing the RVC title with Woodbine. They open the postseason at home against Nodaway Valley or Diagonal on Monday.

Glidden Ralston ends the regular season 10-11 and head to Audubon to open postseason on KIKD on Monday.

Paton Churdan played hard all game but Woodbine shot the ball extremely well, making 14-3’s and hit 20-28 from the free throw line. The Rockets trailed but six at the end of the 1st quarter but Woodbine controlled the boards and hit shots in the 2nd quarter, stretching the lead to 48-23 at half. The Tigers kept the offensive pressure on in the 2nd half and Paton Churdan scored well in the 3rd quarter but managed only six points in the 4th quarter.

Phoenix Hartman had a nice double-double with 11 points and 11 rebounds. Trevon Keely scored 20 points and had 7 rebounds with Kinnick Steimel scoring 9 points. Bryce Stephenson had 5 rebounds.

The Rockets fall to 6-14 overall. They head to Ar-We-Va on Monday to open postseason on KCIM.
