Girls State Wrestling Results Friday, February 7th
Bri Kiger and Emma Daniels of Carroll High and Macy Rasmussen of Audubon
Emma Daniels of Carroll and Macy Rasmussen of Audubon advanced into the Friday night session with both of them earning a Friday morning. Daniels won her opening match by fall, defeating Ava Trende of New Hampton in 3:20. That moved to her into a match that would place her in the 3rd or 5th place match. She faced Jocelyn Buffum of Missouri Valley. Buffum earned a win by fall in 4:26. Daniels faced Haley Rasmussen of Atlantic for 5th and fell by Fall in 3:35. She finished 6th with a 36-8 record.
Rasmussen earned a major decision (11-1) win over Bri Kiger of Carroll in their 3rd round consolation match. Rasmussen got a takedown and maintained control of the match, but Kiger did a terrific job fighting to stay off her back. Rasmussen faced Mariah Michels of Saint Ansgar in the consolation semifinals, losing by fall in 1:38. Macy Rasmussen faced off with Ellie Weets of Vinton Shellsburg for 5th place, losing by Major Decision 15-1. The freshman wrapped up her season 6th with a 39-3 record.
Bri Kiger of Carroll battled hard in both of her matches on Friday, dropping her first match to Rasmussen of Audubon. She had to wrestle against Kate Krause of Eddyville Blakesburg Fremont for 7th place. Kiger lost by fall in 1:38 to finish 8th. She becomes the first Carroll Tiger to medal at the State Girls Wrestling Tournament.
