Ar-We-Va vs Logan-Magnolia

The Ar-We-Va Rockets fell at home on Thursday as they trailed by one late in the game. The Rockets fell down early in the game and trailed at the half. Ar-We-Va was able to come back in the second half as they had a chance to pull ahead late in the game. The ball game started physically, and it stayed that way. Ar-We-Va would trail 17-14 going to the second quarter. Logan-Magnolia would grow their lead in the second quarter. They outscored Ar-We-Va 19-14 in the quarter to lead 36-28 at the half. The Rockets would come out of the locker room and pick up their intensity on defense. Ar-We-Va would outscore Logan-Magnolia 15-13 in the quarter. The Rockets were able to cut it down to a single possession late in the game and had a chance to take the lead with 20 seconds left. Logan-Magnolia would pull out the win over Ar-We-Va 64-62.

Wyatt Ragaller continues to play great for the Rockets down the stretch of the season. Ragaller recorded a team-high 25 points in the win. Blayne Smith added 19 points and six rebounds for the Rockets. Ragaller also pulled down four rebounds and picked up two steals. With the win, Ar-We-Va moves to 14-5. The Rockets are back in action on Friday against Glidden-Ralston.

Coon Rapids-Bayard at ACGC

The Coon Rapids-Bayard Crusaders fall on the road to a ranked ACGC squad in a back-and-forth game on Thursday. The Crusaders would come out strong on the offensive end of the court as they jumped out to an early lead. CRB would hold on to an 18-16 lead going to the second quarter. The Crusaders would go cold in the second quarter as ACGC was able to take the lead back. The Chargers would outscore CRB 14-8 in the quarter. The Crusader would trail 30-26 at the half. ACGC will grow its lead in the third quarter. The third quarter was back-and-forth scoring-wise, but CRB would trail 43-38 to the fourth quarter. In the fourth quarter, CRB was able to tie the game at 47 and 49. ACGC would take the lead back and would hold on to win 60-56.

The Crusaders had three players score in double figures. Cal Heydon scored a team-high 30 points in the win. Ty Heydon added a double-double with 10 points and 11 rebounds. Parker Hays chipped in 11 points in the win. Cal Heydon added nine rebounds for the Crusaders. With the loss, CRB falls to 17-2. The Crusaders are back in action on Friday against Boyer Valley.

Glidden-Ralston vs Ogden

The Glidden-Ralston Wildcats got off to a slow start and tried to come back in the second half but fell at home to Ogden. The Wildcats struggled to shoot the ball in the first quarter, only connecting on one field goal from the floor. Glidden-Ralston would trail 20-6 going to the second quarter. Ogden would grow their lead to 36-16 at the half. The Wildcats would come out of the locker room with some flow on offense as they started to come back into the game. Glidden-Ralston would get some turnovers and be able to cut into the Ogden lead. The Wildcats would trail 52-43 going to the fourth quarter. Glidden-Ralston was able to cut the lead to three points late in the fourth quarter, but Ogden went on to win 63-53.

The Wildcats had three players score in double figures. They were led by Jonathan Bergmeier, who scored 22 points and three steals. Dawson Majerus and Waylon Hein each chipped in 11 points in the loss. Hein also added a team-high nine rebounds. With the loss, Glidden-Ralston falls to 10-9. The Wildcats are back in action on Friday against Ar-We-Va.

The  3rd quarter was the difference as the Wheelers suffered a road loss on Thursday, falling a game below .500 on the season. Audubon built an early lead and was on top 18-13 after the 1st quarter but CAM cut into the Wheelers lead in the 2nd quarter and trailed at half 28-27. Audubon wasn’t able to hold off the Cougars run in the 3rd and were outscored 17-11 to trail by five entering the final stanza. 

Audubon had balanced scoring with Austin Christensen leading the way with 10 points, followed by Aiden Kjergaard and Oliver Deist both with 9 points and Mason Steckler and Brody Schultes each with 8 points. 

The loss drops Audubon to 9-10 overall as they host LoMa on Friday.

IKM-Manning At Boyer Valley

IKM-Manning used an 11-0 run in the 2nd quarter to build a comfortable lead and cruised to a road win on Thursday. The Wolves defense was sharp in the 1st half, holding the Bulldogs to 12 points with three of them coming in the 2nd quarter as IKM-Manning took control of the game. The Wolves were up 14-9 at the end of the 1st quarter and were up 17-12 with a couple minutes left in the half. The 11-0 run pushed their lead into double digits. Boyer Valley shot the ball better in the 2nd half but the Wolves were able to build on their advantage. 

Ben Ramsey had a game high 31 points for IKM-Manning along with 4 assists. Brock Kusel added 10 points with Ashton Ahrenholtz doing a tremendous job on the glass, pulling in a team leading 12 rebounds. Wyatt Danner helped set the tempo on defense with 5 steals with Ahrenholtz adding 3 steals. 

The Wolves improved to 9-10 and will host AHSTW on Friday.
