Audubon earned their second straight win, knocking off Riverside on the road, thanks to a great defensive effort. The Wheelers held the Bulldogs to 11 points in the 4th quarter, allowing them to grab the lead and hold on for the win. They were able to pull out the win, though they struggled from the free throw line, hitting 15 of 28. Austin Christensen was huge on the offensive boards, pulling down seven. The Wheelers handled the Bulldogs trap well and defended the three, taking away two the Riverside’s strengths.  Audubon led 13-5 at the end of the 1st quarter but trailed 25-24 at half. They were down two heading to the 4th quarter before outscoring the Bulldogs 19-11.

Austin Christensen led the Wheelers with 18 points and 14 rebounds with Oliver Deist adding 10 points and Brody Schultes scoring 8 points.

The win improves them to 9-9 overall as they head to CAM on Thursday.

Ty Heydon had a huge game as Coon Rapids Bayard pulled away in the 3rd after the two teams fought hard in the 1st half with Coon Rapids Bayard leading 40-33. The Crusaders jumped out early, building a 27-9 lead after the 1st quarter but Paton Churdan kept attacking and shot the ball well in the 2nd quarter, getting back into the game with 24 points. Coon Rapids Bayard clamped down defensively in the 2nd half, holding the Rockets to 20 points while scoring 25 in the 3rd and 22 in the 4th.

Coon Rapids Bayard had several players with huge nights, led by Ty Heydon with a single game school record 21 rebounds to go with 12 points and 6 assists. He added 3 steals for good measure. Cal Heydon shot 70% from the field, scoring a game high 34 points to go with 8 rebounds. Bryce Lewis continues to play well lately, hitting four-threes and scoring 20 points along with dishing out 6 assists. Caden Oswald added 15 points with 3 steals.

Trevon Keely had 23 points for Paton Churdan with Phoenix Hartman adding 11 points and 4 rebounds. Bryce Stephenson added 5 points with 6 rebounds and Hunter Saffell had 5 rebounds.

The Crusaders improved to 16-1 overall and 12-1 in the Rolling Valley. They host Woodbine on Tuesday on KIKD 106.7 and the CB Sports Network YouTube channel. Paton Churdan falls to 6-12 overall and 4-10 in the Rolling Valley. They head to Exira-EHK on Tuesday.
