East Sac led by three late in the 1st quarter but GTRA went on a 7-0 run to end the quarter which turned into a 19-0 run into the late part of the 2nd quarter as the Raiders suffered a home loss on Saturday. The game was extremely tight early with the lead changes on eight straight baskets. Neither team led by more than two until Kendall Quirk put East Sac up by three. The Raiders were clicking offensively but tired legs affected their shots during the Titans run. GTRA played extremely quick and pressed forcing the Raiders to play at a faster pace than they wanted to. The Raiders were down 30-16 at half and fell down by 27 as GTRA went on a 16-0 run in the 3rd quarter before East Sac rallied to within 15.
Kendall Quirk scored on an offensive rebound early in the game as East Sac took a 2-0 lead. Addisen Ehler put them back up 4-3 after a Kamryn Hough three, one of six-threes for her in the game. Another Hough three put the Titans up 6-4 but Makenna Steiger answered with a three, putting East Sac up 7-6. Sarah Bontrager nailed a three and East Sac was back on top 10-9, she then added a baseline jumper and East Sac went up 12-11. The lead changes hands on eight of the first nine baskets in the game. Kendall Quirk pushed East Sac lead to 14-11 but GTRA went on a 7-0 run, taking a 15-14 lead and pushing it to 18-14 at the end of the 1st quarter. The Titans run started back up in the 2nd quarter as they scored the first-twelve points to lead 30-14. Sarah Bontrager broke the run with a bucket and East Sac trailed 30-16 at half. The Raiders basket came with about 1:30 left in the half.
Sarah Bontrager started the 2nd half with a three and East Sac was down 30-19 but a 16-0 run by GTRA put the game out of reach, up 46-19. The Raiders put a nice run together with Makenna Steiger hitting a couple free throws, a Sarah Bontrager hitting a three, followed by a basket inside. Makenna Steiger closed the run with a free throw and East Sac was down 46-27 going to the 4th quarter. The Raiders chipped away early in the 4th and Kendall Quirk hit a free throw, pulling them within 50-35. That would be as close as they would get, losing 55-40.
Sarah Bontrager had 17 points, hitting 3 of 6 from beyond the arc. She added 6 rebounds and 3 steals. Makenna Steiger had 15 points with 3 steals. Kendall Quirk had 7 rebounds and Addisen Ehler added 5 rebounds.
The loss drops the Raiders to 8-10 overall heading into a home game with Pocahontas Area on Tuesday.
