Clarinda opened quick, jumping out to a 7-2 lead but the Knights brought in their regular starters and went on a 23-2 run to lead 25-9 to end the 1st quarter as they cruised to their 8th straight to improve to 15-1. The Knights were playing their third game in the last four days and fourth game in six days. It didn’t impact them as they shot 56.8% from inside the arc. They had 22 assists on 29 made shots. The defense created 23 turnovers with 18 steals allowing them to get out and run.

Ryan Clair led the Knights with 19 points and 7 rebounds. Tregan Beiter added 12 points and 4 steals with Carson Kanne scoring 8 points with 9 assists. Brock Badding chipped in 9 points with 4 steals.

The Knights improved to 15-1. They head to Creston on KCIM on Friday.

Glidden Ralston won their fourth straight, getting a great defensive effort, holding Exira-EHK to 22 points in through three quarters. The Wildcats offense was effective as well with Colby Wallace hitting pair of deep shots and Waylon Hein doing damage at the rim. Hein had 10 points in the 1st half with most right at the rim. The defense took over in the 2nd quarter, getting steals and defensive rebounds that allowed them to get out and run, scoring in transition. They led 18-7 at the end of the 1st quarter, then pushed it to 32-14 at half. Jonathan Bergmeier was able to get to the rim and hit some midrange jumpers. He added a three, helping his score 11 in the 1st half.

Glidden Ralston used the pick and roll very well in the 2nd half and scored on some back door cuts, pushing the lead to 46-22. A Colby Wallace three followed by a bucket at the rim from Waylon Hein and a midrange bucket from Jonathan Bergmeier pushed their lead to 39-14 early in the 3rd. Baskets by Waylon Hein and Alex Daniel gave the Wildcats control of the game in the 3rd. Exira-EHK closed the 3rd on a 6-0 run but Lucas Christian hit a three to start the 4th and the Wildcats were off and running. Greyson Renze hit a pair of threes and knocked down a jumper in the 4th as the Wildcats scored 22 points in the 4th, going on to win 68-33.

Colby Wallace had 14 points and 8 rebounds and did a tremendous job defensively. Jonathan Bergmeier had 18 points and 2 steals. Waylon Hein added 13 points and 6 rebounds and Greyson Renze added 8 points.

The Wildcats improved to 9-6 overall and 7-4 in the Rolling Valley. They host Woodbine on Tuesday.

Ar-We-Va hit five-threes in the 1st quarter building a lead they hold for the rest of the game. Paton Churdan opened the 2nd quarter on an 8-0 run to get back into the game, pulling within 9 but Ar-We-Va stretched the lead back to 15 by half. Ar-We-Va shot the ball well while Paton Churdan, playing without Cayden Stream battled and competed well. The Ar-We-Va defense has been good most of the second half of the season and came out sharp in the 3rd quarter, holding Paton Churdan to 1 point, blowing the game open to lead 50-24.

Blayne Smith had 14 points with 6 rebounds with Wyatt Ragaller with 12 points and 6 rebounds paced Ar-We-Va. Grant Wilken added 8 points and 3 assists with Tyson VonGlan adding 7 points and 5 rebounds. Devon Ehlers added 5 points and 5 rebounds with Wade Ragaller pulling down 7 rebounds.

Trevon Keely led Paton Churdan with 15 points and 12 rebounds, Kinnick Steimel had 14 points and 6 rebounds. Bryce Stephenson and Phoenix Hartman both had 5 rebounds.

Ar-We-Va improves to 11-3 overall and 8-3 in the Rolling Valley. They head to host Exira-EHK on Friday. Paton Churdan falls to 5-8 overall and 3-7 in the Rolling Valley. They head to Coon Rapids Bayard on Friday.

Coon Rapids Bayard responded from a sluggish 1st half to score 31 points in the 3rd quarter, highlighted by five-threes to put the game away. Bryce Lewis hit three-threes in the 3rd and Caden Oswald added another as he continues to shoot the ball well. Jace Baker drained a three early in the 4th quarter as the Crusaders got other players in the game. Coon Rapids Bayard was able to get looks in the 1st half, but struggled to finish inside as the Hawkeyes packed it in. They led 10-9 at the end of the 1st quarter and were up 24-14 at half. The defense helped turn the game in the 3rd, energizing the offense as the shots started to fall.

Bryce Lewis and Ty Heydon led a balanced attack with 16 points each. Heydon added 12 rebounds and Lewis had 5 assists. Caden Oswald had 15 rebounds, 7 rebounds and 7 assists and Parker Hays had 9 rebounds and 2 steals. Cal Heydon and Jace Baker both had 6 rebounds.

The Crusaders won their sixth straight, moving to 11-1 overall and 9-1 in the Rolling Valley. They host IKM-Manning on 93.7 KKRL on Thursday.

Audubon earned their second straight win, pulling within a game of 500 as they won all four quarters. They offense clicked well as the Wheelers moved the ball well, getting good looks and hitting those shots. Missouri Valley hung close, scoring in double figures in all four quarters. Audubon led 17-15 after the 1st quarter, extending it to 35-27 at half. Austin Christensen was really strong, pulling down 15 rebounds, helping the Wheelers build on the lead in the 3rd quarter. They held off the Big Red in a high scoring 4th quarter.

Brody Schultes led a good offensive performance with 20 points with Aason Olsen scoring 14 points and Austin Christensen had 11 points to go with 15 rebounds. Oliver Deist added 9 points.

Audubon sits 6-7 overall and 2-5 in the Western Iowa Conference as they prepare to head to IKM-Manning on Friday on 93.7 KKRL.

IKM-Manning had a chance to get to .500 overall but had the game slip out of reach in the 4th quarter. The Wolves defense kept them in the game in the 1st quarter as they offense struggled to find a rhythm. They held the Panthers to 11 points, tying the game into the 2nd quarter when both teams got things going on the offensive end. The Wolves trailed by two at half and cut it to a one point game going into the 4th quarter. The Panthers hit shots and were able to pull away for an eight point win.

Ben Ramsey led the Wolves with 24 points and 8 assists with Isaac Blankman adding 16 points and 4 rebounds. Brock Kusel nearly had a double-double with 10 points and 8 rebounds to go with 5 assists. Ben Langel scored 8 points and Ashton Ahrenholtz added 6 rebounds.

The loss drops IKM-Manning to 5-7 overall and 3-7 in the Western Iowa Conference. They head to Coon Rapids Bayard on 93.7 KKRL on Thursday.

After a slow start on defense the Raiders cranked it up in the 2nd quarter, helping them to take charge for a road conference win. After allowing 20 points in the 1st quarter and trailing 20-16 they held the Wolverines to 7 points in the 2nd quarter. The increased defensive intensity led to a crisper offense as the Raiders began to hit threes. Landon Sporrer and Sam Julin each knocked down a three to spark the offense, giving them a 36-27 lead at half.

The defense played well in the 2nd half and Zach Jacobsen shot the ball well, hitting 3-3’s in the 2nd half.   Ball movement and defensive pressure were huge in their 2nd half run. The Raiders had 18 steals, leading to transition baskets, finishing with 19 assists.

Landon Sporrer had a strong night, hitting 3-3’s finishing with 13 points with Sam Julin leading them with 15 points,  Asher Lawler added 12 points and 5 steals and Zach Jacobsen finishing with 11 points and 4 steals. Gabe King had 6 rebounds and Jack Gullett dished out 4 assists and Kade Snyder had 5 rebounds.

The win improves East Sac to 5-6 overall and 3-3 in the Twin Lakes Conference. They head into Thursday’s game at MVAOCOU on a two game winning streak.

South Central Calhoun stays toward the top of the Twin Lakes Conference, getting a strong defensive effort on the road to win 57-30. The Titans allowed 12 points in the 1st half, building a 28-12 lead. The defense didn’t allow double digits in any of the four quarters, helping take pressure of the offense. They had six guys score with three finishing in double figures and the other three guys finishing with 6 or 7 points. South Central Calhoun outscored Pocahontas Area 29-18 in the 2nd half.

Cole Higgins had a team  high 16 points with Andrew Anderson adding 12 points and Evan Myers with 10 points.

The Titans are 8-6 overall heading into their home game with Sioux Central on Friday.
