The Kuemper Knights pick up a conference win as they cruise past Red Oak at home on Thursday. The Knights held Red Oak scoreless in two quarters. Kuemper was able to force turnovers early in the ball game as they would jump out to an early lead. They would lead 23-0 going to the second quarter. Kuemper was able to knock down some shots from behind the arc. Kuemper would add 31 more points in the second quarter as their lead would grow to 51-9 at the half. Coming out of the locker room, Kuemper would struggle with turnovers in the third quarter but was able to hold Red Oak scoreless. The Knights would grow their lead to 57-9 going to the fourth quarter. The Knights would empty the bench in the fourth quarter as they went on to win 64-13.

Kuemper had three players score in double figures. The Knights were led by Kaylie Simons who finished with 17 points. Charlotte Hackfort and Alivia Schenkelberg each chipped in ten points for the Knights. Karsyn Overmohle continues to shot the ball great for Kuemper as she finished with 8 points. With the win, the Knights move to 6-5. Kuemper is back in action on Friday against Atlantic.

The Glidden-Ralston Wildcats struggled on offense as they fell on the road at Tri-Center. Glidden-Ralston got off to a really slow start, as they only managed five points in the first half. The Wildcats would trail 31-5 at the half. The defense picked up in the second half for Glidden-Ralston. They held Tri-Center to only ten points in the half. Glidden-Ralston would fall to Tri-Center 41-17. Olivia Squibb led the way in scoring for Glidden-Ralston, as she recorded six points. Kassidy Wenck chipped in five points in the loss. With the loss, Glidden-Ralston falls to 3-6. The Wildcats are back in action on Friday against Coon Rapids-Bayard.

The Paton Churdan Rockets fell at home to an undrafted West Bend-Mallard team. The first half would stay close, but West Bend-Mallard would build a double-digit lead. The Rockets were down 19-8 going to the second quarter. Both teams scored nine points in the second quarter, and WBM would lead 28-17 at the half. West Bend Mallard’s lead continued to grow in the second half. Paton Churdan struggled on the offensive end as they fell 65-32. Alivya Smith recorded a team-high 17 points in the loss. Ella Tasler added six pints for PC. With the loss, Paton Churdan falls to 1-9. The Rockets are back in action on Friday against Woodbine.

Exira-EHK At IKM-Manning

What a double overtime thriller between Exira-EHK and IKM-Manning on Thursday. The game featured 22 lead changes and 13 ties with both teams having a chance to win in regulation and both overtimes. The Wolves led most of the 2nd half, using an 11-0 run, answering a 5-0 to start the half by Exira-EHK which put the Spartans up 9. IKM-Manning went up 7 in the 4th quarter but three straight possessions where they didn’t get the ball across halfcourt against the Spartans pressure, energized Exira-EHK as they rallied to tie the game at 60 and took a 61-60 lead late in regulation. The Wolves hit clutch free throws late in regulation and the first overtime to extend the game. IKM-Manning finished the game 30-38 from the free throw line while Exira-EHK ended the game 22-35. The Spartans got clutch threes late in regulation and in overtime from Zoey Rasmussen and Taryn Petersen. The teams combined to have seven players foul out. 

The 1st quarter featured 11 lead changes and was tied 4 times before the Wolves went up 22-21 at the end of the 1st quarter. Laynie Gawley, who played well for IKM-Manning hit a pair of free throws to put them up 3 late in the quarter and Jaelynn Petersen hit a bucket pulling the Spartans within 1. Keagan Eischeid scored to start the 2nd quarter and IKM-Manning was up 3 but Zoey Rasmussen drained a three and Harlee Fahn scored inside to put the Spartans up 26-24. Fahn fouled out later in the game, finishing with 12 points and 11 rebounds. Anna Stangl hit a three to keep the Wolves close. Taryn Petersen hit a pair of free throws and Exira-EHK appeared to be gaining control, up 34-29. Anna Stangl hit a tough runner in the lane and Keagan Eischeid answered a Jaelynn Petersen bucket and IKM-Manning was down 37-33 at half. 

Allisa Testroet hit two free throws and Riley Miller knocked in a three and Exira-EHK went up 9 to start the 2nd half. Taylor Beckendorf, who battled foul trouble in the 1st half stopped the run for the Wolves and they responded with an 11-0 run. Oriah Meiners had five straight for the Wolves, then scored to put them up 44-42. The Wolves held a 51-50 lead heading into the 4th quarter. A pair of free throws by Anna Stangl gave IKM-Manning a 59-52 lead with less than 4:00 to go. Free throws from Jaelynn Petersen and Harlee Fahn pulled the Spartans within 59-55. The Spartans kept chipping away as their full court pressure forced three straight turnovers. Taryn Petersen hit a pair of free throws to put Exira-EHK up 61-60 but Taylor Beckendorf scored inside, putting the Wolves up 62-61. A Taryn Petersen three gave the Spartans a 64-62 with less than a minute left. Anna Stangl was fouled and tied the game with two free throws. The Spartans had a chance but didn’t get a shot off in time and the game went to overtime. The teams traded free throws early with Keagan Eischeid hitting a pair to give the Wolves a 66-65 lead. Taryn Petersen answered again with a three and the Spartans were up 68-66. Eischeid hit another pair of free throws, tying the game at 68. Jaelynn Petersen had four straight and the Spartans looked in control, up 72-68. Anna Stangl cut it to a two point game and Taylor Beckendorf tied it with a pair of free throws, sending the game to a second overtime. IKM-Manning took the lead first in the 2nd OT on a pair of Keagan Eischeid free throws. Zoey Rasmussen hit her third-three to put the Spartans up 75-74 but Anna Stangl hit two free throws for IKM-Manning. A Taryn Petersen three gave the Spartans the lead for good, up 78-76. She added a shot inside, making it 80-77. IKM-Manning fought back with a three from McKenna Benton, making it 81-80 Spartans. Keagan Eischeid hit a free throw to tie the game. Jaelynn Petersen and Taryn Petersen each hit a free throw to seal the win for Exira-EHK. 

Taryn Petersen and Jaelynn Petersen both finished with 25 points for Exira-EHK with Taryn adding 6 rebounds, 6 assists and 6 steals. Jaelynn had a nifty double-double with 10 rebounds and 5 steals. Harlee Fahn added 12 points and 11 rebounds with Kadence Sporrer finishing with 7 rebounds and 5 assists. Zoey Rasmussen added 11 points. 

Anna Stangl paced the Wolves with 26 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists. Keagan Eischeid added 15 points and 10 rebounds. Laynie Gawley had 8 points and Oriah Meiners added 9 points for IKM-Manning. Taylor Beckendorf had 15 points. 

The Spartans moved to 6-2, winning their 4th straight. They head to ACGC on Saturday. IKM-Manning falls to 4-6 and travels to Tri Center on Tuesday.

The Coon Rapids-Bayard Crusaders pick up their seventh straight win as they pick up a non-conference win over AHSTW. CRB struggled on the offensive end of the floor. The Crusaders would hold a slight lead going to the second quarter at 11-6. Coon Rapids-Bayard would lead the whole game. Their lead would grow in the second quarter as they led 20-11 at the half. CRB would continue to grow the lead in the second half as they would lead by double digits. CRB would go on to win 37-24. Anna Hart led the way in scoring for CRB, as she recorded 16 points. Hart also added 10 steals. In the win, Hart became the all-time steals leader in CRB history. Aubrey Hofbauer, Ashtyn Klocke, and Ella Heithoff each chipped in five points in the win. With the win, CRB moves to 7-1. They are back in action on Friday against Glidden-Ralston.
