The Carroll Tigers were looking for back-to-back wins over ranked teams but fell on the road on Tuesday to number one Ballard. Carroll fell in the game’s final seconds after leading by double digits at the half. The Tiger’s offense was great in the first half as they jumped out to a 19-18 lead going to the second quarter. Carroll would grow their lead to double digits in the second quarter as they outscored Ballard 23-11. Carroll would lead 42-29 at the half. Ballard would come storming back in the second half as they slowly chipped away at the deficit. Carroll was outscored 19-17 in the third quarter. The Tigers would lead 59-49 going to the fourth quarter. The fourth quarter was the difference in the game. The Tigers only managed five points in the quarter. Ballard was able to come all the way back, and the game would be tied 64-64 in the final seconds. Ballard grabbed an offensive rebound from a missed shot and put the ball back in the basket with two seconds left as they beat Carroll 66-64.
Stone Sibenaller had an outstanding game, scoring a team-high 26 points. Sibenaller also knocked down six threes in the loss. Jared Mohr and Trey Tassell each chipped in eight points for Carroll. Mohr also recorded a team-high six assists and five rebounds. With the loss, Carroll falls to 2-6. The Tigers are back in action against North Polk on Friday.

The Audubon Wheelers even up their record as they fall at the buzz at Logan-Magnolia. The Wheelers were down at the half but were able to fight their way back in the second half. Audubon would be down 16-10 going to the second quarter. Audubon found more success on the offense end in the second quarter as they cut into the LoMa lead. The Wheelers would add 19 points in the quarter and be down 32-29 at the half. Audubon would play better defensively in the third quarter, holding LoMa to only 11 points. The Wheelers would take a lead going to the fourth quarter at 45-43. The game would stay tight throughout the fourth quarter. Both teams added 17 points in the quarter. LoMa would hit a game-winning shot at the buzzer as they went on to win 60-58.
The Wheelers had two players in double figures in the loss. Aaron Olsen recorded a team-high 22 points, and Brody Schultes chipped in ten points for Audubon. Six players scored in the game, and Mason Steckler added nine points. With the loss, the Wheelers fall to 4-4. Audubon is back in action on Friday against AHSTW.

The Coon Rapids-Bayard Crusaders picked up their second straight win as they knocked off a Rolling Valley Conference team in Boyer Valley. The Crusaders played great defense in the first half as they were able to build a significant lead. CRB jumped out to a 15-9 lead going to the second quarter. The Crusaders picked up the pace on the offensive end in the second quarter as they added 24 points. Coon Rapids-Bayard would lead 39-13 at the half. The Crusaders were able to empty the bench in the second half to win the big lead. CRB would go on to win 63-36.
Coon Rapids-Bayard had two players score in double figures. Cal Heydon led the way offensively with a team-high 27 points. Caden Oswald chipped in 13 points in the win. As a team, the Crusaders combined for 15 steals. Ty Heydon pulled down eight rebounds for CRB. With the win, the Crusaders moved to 7-1. Coon Rapids-Bayard is back in action on Friday against Glidden-Ralston.

The Paton Churdan Rockets picked up a blowout win on the road Tuesday as they beat Storm Lake St. Mary’s. The Rockets played great defense in the first half, growing a significant lead. PC would lead 14-5 going to the second quarter. Paton Churdan would lead 49-9 at the half. The Rockets were able to sit starters in most of the second half with a large lead. Paton Churdan would go on to win 66-39. Eight different PC players scored in the win. The Rockets were led by Trevon Keely, who finished with a career-high 30 points. Cayden Stream chipped in 14 points for PC. Bryce Stephenson was the third player in double digits with 11 points. With the win, Paton Churdan moves to 4-4. The Rockets are back in action on Thursday against West Bend-Mallard.

Ar-We-Va had an outstanding defensive game plan and effort as they contained Glidden Ralston offensive threats, allowing them to frustrate the Wildcats on the offensive end. For the second straight game the Wildcats struggled to get to the free throw line, not shooting a free throw in the game. They’ve shot three free throws in their last two games combined. Ar-We-Va did a tremendous job getting inside and getting contact. They went 14-24 from the free throw line. Ar-We-Va led 17-9 at the end of the 1st quarter, extending it to 28-15 at half and led by as many as 30 in the 2nd half.
Wyatt Ragaller was outstanding on both ends and Blayne Smith took over the game at times on the boards and on offense. Wyatt Ragaller hit a pair of free throws, Devon Ehlers scored inside and Blayne Smith added a bucket to put the Rockets up 6-0. Waylon Hein scored inside for Glidden Ralston and Jonathan Bergmeier scored on a tough shot inside, pulling the Wildcats within 7-4. That would be as close as they would get. Devon Ehlers drained a three and Blayne Smith hit a pair of free throws and Ar-We-Va led 12-4. Waylon Hein scored again for Glidden Ralston but Wade Ragaller drained a three, Damon Thomsen scored and Wyatt Ragaller pushed the lead to 19-9 early in the 2nd quarter. Back-to-back baskets from Daniel Thooft pulled Glidden Ralston within 20-13 but Blayne Smith and Wyatt Ragaller pushed the Rockets lead to 28-15 at half.
Blayne Smith hit a three early in the 2nd half, pushing the lead to 33-15 as Ar-We-Va began to pull away. A pair of Wyatt Ragaller free throws gave Ar-We-Va a 20 point lead but Alex Daniel drained a three and Glidden Ralston was down 37-20 heading into the final stanza. Ar-We-Va jumped out quickly in the 4th and Devon Ehlers scored to make it a 52-22 lead. Glidden Ralston ended the game on a 9-0 run.
Wyatt Ragaller led Ar-We-Va with 15 points and a great defensive game. Blayne Smith had a strong double-double with 14 points, 10 rebounds along with 5 assists. Devon Ehlers had 9 points and 7 rebounds and Tyson VonGlan added 6 rebounds.
Waylon Hein led Glidden Ralston with 8 points and Carson Peters added 7 points. Colby Wallace pulled down 6 rebounds and Waylon Hein had 3 rebounds.
Ar-We-Va improved to 6-2 overall and 4-2 in the Rolling Valley. They head to CAM on Friday. Glidden Ralston falls to 5-4 overall and 4-3 in the Rolling Valley. They head to Tri Center on Thursday.

The struggles continued for IKM-Manning on Tuesday, falling on the road at AHSTW, their fourth straight loss after a 3-1 start to the season. The Wolves trailed most of the game, having it slip away in the 3rd quarter when they gave up 25 points, falling behind 58-41. They tried to rally in the 4th quarter but didn’t have enough time. Ben Ramsey had a team high 23 points to go with 5 rebounds, Brock Kusel added 9 points and Wyatt Danner scored 7 points.
IKM-Manning falls to 3-5 overall and 2-3 in the Western Iowa Conference. They will look to bounce back on Thursday when they host Exira-EHK on 93.7 KKRL.

Evan Myers had a strong offensive game, leading them with 17 points but the Titans struggled to score in the 1st and 4th quarters. They built a three point lead in the 3rd quarter, scoring 21 points, more than they combined to score in the 1st and 4th combined. They trailed 20-19 at half but led 40-37 heading into the final stanza. Cole Higgins and Charlie Nattress both had 8 points in the loss. South Central Calhoun hosts Storm Lake St Mary’s on Friday.
