Girls Basketball Results Friday, December 21st 

Carroll At Winterset

Carroll earned their first win over Winterset 2019, snapping a 8-game losing streak. The Tigers used tough defense and balanced scoring to earn the win. Katelyn Aden provided great pressure at the top of the Tigers defense, helping Carroll smother the Huskies, holding them to 10 points in the 1st quarter and more importantly to 6 points in the 4th quarter. Carroll built a 22-10 lead at the end of the 1st quarter but led only 31-21 at half and 37-31 entering the 4th quarter. Carroll made plays down the stretch to extend the lead and hit free throws to clinch the win. 

Ali Kock led the Tigers with 14 points with Katelyn Aden and Olivia Rowedder each scoring 13 points. Jersey Sporrer and Analia Ayala did a nice job getting in the lane off the bounce and finding their teammates for good looks. 

Carroll heads into the break 4-2 overall and 2-2 in the Raccoon River Conference. They host Bondurant Farrar on January 3rd.

Paton Churdan fell to CAM in their final game before the holiday break, losing at home 54-13 on Friday afternoon. The Rockets offense struggled, scoring 5 points in the 1st quarter and trailed 29-5 at half. Kaliyan Minnihan led the Rockets with 9 points with Ava Minnehan and Ella Tasler both scoring 2 points. 

The Rockets are 0-7 and will return to action on January 3rd at home against Exira-EHK.

Boyer Valley At Glidden Ralston

A cold shooting 2nd half doomed Glidden Ralston at home on Friday as they closed out the 1st half of the season. The Wildcats trailed 9-8 after the 1st quarter and were only down 23-16 at half but scored 10 points in the 2nd half while Boyer Valley heated up in the 3rd quarter, scoring 20 points. 

Olivia Squibb paced the Wildcats with 9 points and Kassidy Wenck added 8 points in the loss. 

The Wildcats are 2-4 overall and 1-3 in the Rolling Valley heading into the break. They head to CAM on January 3rd.

IKM-Manning At Treynor

IKM-Manning fell to 12th ranked Treynor on the road Friday, closing out their first half of the season schedule at 2-5. The Wolves fell down early as the Cardinals pressure defense created turnovers, allowing them to build a 21-5 lead by the end of the 1st quarter. IKM-Manning settled down in the 2nd half, battling with Treynor to a 30-23 score. The Wolves shot 30% from the field and hit just 3-14 from beyond the arc in the loss. 

Anna Stangl paced the offensive output with 14 points to go with 7 rebounds, 4 assists and 5 steals. Keagan Eischeid added 10 points and 6 rebounds with 3 steals as the Wolves had 13 steals defensively. Laynie Gawley had a strong night on the glass, pulling down 7 rebounds, tying with Taylor Beckendorf for the team lead. Beckendorf added 6 points. 

IKM-Manning enters the break at 2-5 overall and 2-3 in the WIC. They are off until they host Missouri Valley on January 3rd.

East Sac struggled from the outside, hitting just two of fourteen shots, finishing the night 28.3% from the field overall. The cold shooting allowed GTRA to pull away in the 2nd half, controlling the 3rd quarter, outscoring the Raiders 23-9. East Sac was down 23-15 at half after scoring only 4 points in the  1st quarter. 

Kendall Quirk with 13 points and Makenna Steiger with 10 points, both scored in double figures while Quirk paced the Raiders with 13 rebounds, 6 offensively. Addisen Ehler added 12 rebounds, 9 on the defensive end. Jordin Carroll and Sarah Bontrager both had 2 steals. 

The Raiders are 3-4 overall heading into the break. They travel to SE Valley on January 6th.

South Central Calhoun enters the holiday break on a two game losing streak after falling at Emmetsburg on Friday. The Titans struggled on offense but held the E-Hawks to 12 points in the 1st quarter, keeping them in the game. South Central Calhoun shot 39% from the field, coupled with 31 turnovers they trailed 31-16 at half. The E-Hawks separated themselves early in the 2nd half but the Titans battled hard in the 4th quarter, out scoring the E-Hawks 12-6. 

Blair Schleisman had a team high 10 points along with 6 steals. Ailey Korleski and Adlen Wheelock both added 8 points with Wheelock collecting 5 steals. Macie Dorman had 6 points. 

The Titans slip to 4-5 heading into the break. They head to MVAOCOU on January 4th.

Ar-We-Va hung with 10th ranked Woodbine into the 2nd quarter before the Tigers pulled away for a 65-21 win. Gabby Hundling paced the Rockets offense with 9 points as Ar-We-Va trailed 18-9 at the end of the 1st quarter. Woodbine outscored them 21-3 in the 2nd quarter to lead 39-12 at half. Hallie McCollough added 6 points for the Rockets in the loss. 

Ar-We-Va falls to 2-3 as they enter the holiday break. The Rockets travel to Boyer Valley on January 3rd.
