Kuemper used a huge 2nd quarter to separate themselves on the road, then held on to win at Van Meter. The Knights were up 17-16 heading into the 2nd quarter but the lead ballooned to 42-24 at half and was 26 points in the 3rd before the Bulldogs began to close the deficit. The Knights shot the ball well, hitting 56.1% from the field, though they struggled from beyond the arc, hitting 3-12. Their ball movement was sharp again, finishing with 23 assists on 32 made baskets. The defense had 14 steals while the Knights only had 5 turnovers. Van Meter hit eight-threes to keep themselves in the game. 

Ryan Clair had his best game in a Knights uniform, finishing with a huge double-double, scoring 17 points with 12 rebounds. Dylan Schon continues to be a threat with a team high 18 points. Jack Badding dished out eight dimes while Brock Badding had 10 points and 8 rebounds. Dylan Schon added 4 steals and Tregan Beiter had 3 steals. 

The Knights are 4-0 heading to Atlantic on Tuesday.

SE Valley At South Central Calhoun

South Central Calhoun was dominant defensively in the 1st half, jumping out 9-0 to start the game and leading by as many as 11 in the 1st quarter. SE Valley made a run at them in the 3rd, tying the game three times in the 3rd but never taking the lead. South Central Calhoun took command in the 4th, going up by as many as 10 points, holding on for a 66-59 win. 

Cole Higgins hit a three to open the scoring followed by a free throw from Charlie Nattress, a three from Andrew Anderson and a pair of free throws from Cole Higgins, giving the Titans a 9-0 lead. Garrett Krause buried a corner three and South Central Calhoun led 12-3. SE Valley battled back, pulling within 12-9 but Garrett Krause responded with a bucket and Halas Steig drained a three and the Titans built a 19-11 lead at the end of the 1st quarter. Andrew Anderson scored to start the 2nd quarter, putting the Titans up 22-11, their largest lead of the 1st half. SE Valley started hitting some threes and cut the deficit to 22-16 but Cole Higgins stopped the run with a bucket. Garrett Krause hit another three and the Titans were up 29-20. SE Valley again answered, pulling within 29-24. Cole Higgins hit a three, putting the Titans up 32-24. Evan Myers hit back-to-back baskets to push the lead to 36-26 but SE Valley scored before the half, cutting it to 36-28. 

Buckets from Garrett Krause and Charlie Nattress extended their lead to 40-28 early in the 2nd half, their largest lead in the game. SE Valley answered with a 12-0 run to tie the game. Charlie Nattress scored to give the Titans a 42-40 lead. The game was tied at 42 and 44 at the end of the 3rd quarter. Andrew Anderson drained a three to start the 4th quarter and Evan Myers made it 49-46 before Andrew Anderson scored, pushing the lead to 51-46. Garrett Krause drained a three before answering a SE Valley three, pushing the lead to 57-49. Cole Higgins made it 59-49 as the Titans took control of the game. SE Valley got as close as 62-57 but Caleb Gaffney and Charlie Nattress hit free throws down the stretch. The Titans held on for a 66-59 win. 

Cole Higgins led the Titans with 17 points and 12 rebounds. Andrew Anderson added 16 points with 3 steals. Garrett Krause finished with 15 points and Charlie Nattress added 8 rebounds. Evan Myers added 8 points and 6 rebounds. 

The Titans improved to 4-2 overall and will head to Spencer on Tuesday.

Ar-We-Va improved to 3-1, winning their third straight game, rolling past Storm Lake St Mary’s. The Rockets poured in 31 points in the 1st quarter, building a 29 point lead. The lead grew to 46-8 at half. Storm Lake St Mary’s had their best quarter in the 3rd but Ar-We-Va dominated the 4th quarter. 

Three Rockets were in double figures, led by Wyatt Ragaller with 12 points, Aidan Blackman added 11 points with 5 rebounds and Devon Ehlers finished with 10 points. Grant Wilken added 9 points, Derek Thomsen finished with 8 points while Johnathan Riesselman pulled down 5 rebounds. 

The Rockets sit 3-1 overall and will host Alta-Aurelia on 93.7 KKRL on Thursday.

The East Sac County Raiders ended a three-game losing streak as they picked up a big win on the road at Pocahontas Area on Monday. The Raiders scored double-digit points in each of the four quarters. In the first quarter, ESC was able to jump out to an early 12-2 lead, forcing PAC to turn the basketball over. The Raiders would lead 16-4 going to the second quarter. Pocahontas Area would find their groove in the second quarter on offense. The Indians outscored ESC 15-14 in the quarter. The Raiders would hold on to a 30-19 lead at the half. East Sac County never trailed in the game. 

In the third quarter, ESC started on a quick 5-0 run to grow its lead. PAC hung around, trailing by nine most of the quarter at 35-26. The Raiders led 44-31 going to the fourth quarter. Sam Julin found his groove in the fourth quarter, scoring 14 points and hitting four threes. The Raiders outscored PAC 19-9 in the quarter and went on to win 63-40. 

The Raiders had two players finish in double figures with points in the win. Asher Lawler led them in scoring with 17 points. Thirteen of Lawler’s points came in the first half. Sam Julin was second on the team with 15 points. Kade Snyder led the Raiders in rebounds with nine. With the win, ESC moves to 2-3. The Raiders are back in action on Friday against GTRA.
