Sam Julin came out hot, hitting three-threes in the 1st quarter, helping the Raiders take the early lead. The Raiders led by as many as nine in the 2nd quarter but Newell Fonda went on a run to close out the half with a down 27-25. The momentum gained by the Mustangs late in the 1st half rolled into the 3rd quarter and Newell Fonda built on their lead, outscoring East Sac 24-12. Foul trouble in the 3rd quarter began to take its toll on the Raiders and the Mustangs would pressure the Raiders into several turnovers. Newell Fonda used a 1-0 run in the 3rd to take control of the game. East Sac trailed 49-39 going into the 4th quarter. The Raiders battled in the 4th quarter with Caron Schmitt and Zach Jacobsen hitting a three apiece to keep the Raiders within five with 5:00 to play. Newell Fonda pulled away at that point and went on to win 65-54.
Sam Julin shot the ball well, hitting 5-11 from three-point range. He finished with 26 points along with a pair of steals. Asher Lawler, Jack Gullett, Zach Jacobsen and Carson Schmitt all had 6 points. Landon Sporrer finished with 3 steals.
The loss drops the Raiders to 1-3 overall. They head to Pocahontas Area on Monday.
