Carroll earned a nice win, building a strong lead through the 2nd and 3rd quarters on their way to a 15-point win. Kuemper shot the ball well early, then made a run in the 4th quarter before falling to 1-2 on the season. Carroll won the rebounding battle and created 24 turnovers, switching up their defense after the Knights hit a few early shots from deep. The lead grew from two to eight at half for Carroll before they took control in the 3rd quarter, out scoring the Knights 13-3.
Charlotte Hackfort hit an early three, putting Kuemper up 3-0 but Carroll responded with a 6-0 run with buckets from Ali Kock, Chloe Kock and Katleyn Aden. A three from Elsa Tiethenthaler tied the game at 6-6. Carroll went up 10-6 but Kuemper scored four in a row with Addy Anthofer tying the game at 10. Analia Ayalya drilled a three for Carroll and Katelyn Aden extended the Tigers lead to 15-10. A Morgan Masching three-point play made it 15-13 at the end of the 1st quarter. Charlotte Hackfort hit her second-three for Kuemper, putting them up 16-15 but Olivia Rowedder put Carroll back up 17-16. A Katelyn Aden stretched the lead to 20-16 with a three and Carroll never trailed again. Katelyn Aden hit a three for Carroll, making it 28-20 and Jersey Sporrer stretched it to 31-21 with the first of her three’s in the game. Elsa Tiefenthaler had a pair of free throws for the Knights and they trailed 32-24 at half.
Carroll opened the 2nd half with a 7-1 run, extending the lead to 39-25 with buckets from Katelyn Aden, Olivia Rowedder and Sophia Tidgren. The Tigers out scored the Knights 13-3 in the 3rd quarter and led 45-27 going into the final stanza. Karsyn Overmohle had a pair of threes for the Knights, helping them pull within 47-34. Jersey Sporrer responded for Carroll with back-to-back shots from beyond the arc, making it 53-34.
Katelyn Aden led Carroll with 17 points along with having 4 steals. Chloe Kock added 11 points with 5 rebounds and Jersey Sporrer scored 9 points. Olivia Rowedder had a strong floor game with 5 assists and 5 steals along with 5 rebounds.
Elsa Tiefenthaler paced the Knights with 16 points and 4 rebounds with Karsyn Overmohle adding 9 points with 7 rebounds.
The Tigers improved to 2-0 overall and will head to Carlisle on Friday on KCIM. Kuemper falls to 1-2 and will travel to Denison Schleswig on Friday on KIKD.

The Coon Rapids-Bayard Crusaders bounce back on Tuesday as they pick up a big win on the road over Ar-We-Va. The Crusaders came out in the first quarter with great defensive intensity as they would take a 20-0 lead. CRB held Ar-We-Va under ten points going to the half. Ar-We-Va struggled with turnovers in the loss. At the half, CRB would lead 35-3. the Crusades scored in double figures in each of the four quarters. The third quarter was the best for Ar-We-Va as they scored six points. The Rockets would trail 50-9 going to the fourth quarter. CRB would control most of the quarter as they went on to win 63-14 over Ar-We-Va.
For Coon Rapids-Bayard, they were led in scoring by Malia Clayburg with 21 points. CRB was balanced scoring as they had ten different girls score in the game. Anna Hart was also in double figures with 11 points. Clayburg and Hart each had a team-high seven steals in the win for CRB. With the win, CRB improved to 1-1. The loss drops Ar-We-Va to 0-1. The Crusaders are back in action on Friday against CAM. The Rockets are back on the court on Tuesday against Paton-Churdan.

The East Sac County Raiders opened their season with a win over Woodbury Central as they played a great all-around game. The game started close as the first quarter was back and forth. The Raiders would hold a small lead going to the second quarter at 11-6. In the win, ESC shot over 40 percent from three, knocking down nine in the game. The Raiders would grow their lead in the second quarter as they added 18 points. At the half, ESC would lead 29-16. Coming out of the locker rooms, both teams struggled during the quarter. The Raiders would outscore Woodbury Central 6-5 in the quarter. The fourth quarter was high-scoring as the Raiders added 18 more points. ESC would go on to win 53-36.
Makenna Steiger scored a team-high 19 points for the Raiders, going 5-12 from behind the arc in the win. Kendall Quirk scored nine points and added 12 rebounds. The Raiders pulled down 30 rebounds as a team. With the win, ESC starts the season 1-0. The Raiders are back in action on Friday against South Central Calhoun.

The Exira-EHK Spartans, who came into tonight’s season opener ranked seventh, fell to Woodbine as they opened up conference play. The first quarter was back and forth as both teams scored in double digits. Woodbine would take a 14-10 lead going to the second quarter. Woodbine’s lead would grow in the second quarter as they outscored Exira-EHK 12-7. The Spartans would trail 26-17 at the half. Woodbine had a good offensive night as they scored in double digits each quarter. Woodbine would grow their lead in the coming out of the locker room to 41-28. The Spartans would struggle on the glass most of the game. Exira-EHK would also be outscored in the fourth quarter and go on to lose 55-39.

IKM-Manning picks up their first win of their 2024-25 season as they pick up a close win on the road over Tri-Center Tuesday. IKM-Manning had three players in double figures in the win. The first quarter was high-scoring as it was back and forth. IKM-Manning would take a one-point lead of 16-15 going to the second quarter. Both defenses made adjustments in the second quarter as Tri-Center outscored the Wolves 7-6. The game would be tied 22-22 at the half. Tri-Central came out of the locker rooms with a great offensive game plan, scoring 19 points to grow a lead over IKM-Manning. Tri-Center would lead 41-34 going to the fourth quarter. The Wolves best offensive quarter was the fourth as they played great on both ends of the floor. IKM-Manning outscored Tri-Center 21-11. The Wolves would go on to win 55-52.
Anna Stangl and McKenna Benton each had 13 points, which led the Wolves on Tuesday. Oriah Meiners was the other IKM-Manning player in double figures with ten points. As a team, the Wolves had 15 assists. Beckendorf dished out a team-high six assists. Benton shot the ball excellently, making four three-pointers. Stangl pulled down a team-high eight rebounds. With the win, IKM-Manning improves to 1-1. The Wolves are back in action on Friday against Riverside.
