Ar-We-Va At Lenox- 8-Man 2nd Round

Ar-We-Va had a chance early to put the top ranked Tigers  on their heels, driving from their own 21-yard line to the Tigers 25 before turning it over on downs. The Rockets were in the game until the early part of the 2nd quarter when Lenox scored twice in a three minute span. They gave themselves a chance with a late touchdown in the 1st half, then recovering the onside kick, having a chance to pull within two scores. 

The opening drive went well for Ar-We-Va, running 11-plays before stalling out at the Tigers 25-yard line. The defense bent but didn’t break as the Tigers moved the ball downfield. Gabe Funk looked like he was going to score on the Tigers first drive but Wyatt Ragaller tracked him down and forced a fumble at the 1-yard line and recovered the ball in the endzone. The Rockets offense was forced to punt as the Tigers defense began to win the line of scrimmage. The Tigers offense took advantage, scoring on the second play of their possession with Jordan Martin England rushing for a 37-yard touchdown with 3:33 left in the 1st quarter. The Rockets picked up a pair of 1st downs on their next drive but were forced to punt again. Lenox went 65-yards on six-plays, scoring on an 11-yard run by Gabe Funk with 8:32 left in the half. The Tigers led 14-0 and were set to open the game up. Gabe Funk jumped a Rockets pass and returned it 34-yards for a touchdown, pushing the lead to 21-0 with 5:20 left in the half. Lenox added to their lead with Funk running it in from 5-yards with 1:18 left in the half. Wyatt Ragaller had a strong night returning kicks, taking the ensuing kick to the Rockets 37-yard line. Ar-We-Va had a great drive to end the half, going 43-yards in seven-plays with Blayne Smith hitting Wade Ragaller for a 19-yard touchdown. The Rockets recovered the onside kick with 0:03 left but Gabe Funk came up with an interception to end the half with the Tigers up 28-6. 

Lenox got the ball to start the 2nd half and scored on a 26-yard run by Gabe Funk, pushing the lead to 35-6. They stretched the lead to 41-6 on their next possession with Funk scoring on a 5-yard run with 6:24 left in the 3rd quarter. The Rockets looked like they may score on their next possession, marching the ball downfield on a 13-play drive. Getting a first and goal from the 2-yard line. They weren’t able to score and turned it over on downs. Both teams turned  it over on their next possession. The Tigers ran out the final 3:29 to end the game. 

Blayne Smith passed for 93-yards and a touchdown with Wade Ragaller adding 77-yards on 6 catches with a 19-yard touchdown. 

The Rockets end the season 6-4.
