South Central Calhoun made adjustments after a tough first set and played the top ranked Cyclones better over the final two sets than anyone they’ve faced in the postseason. The Titans knew they were facing a team that played at a quicker tempo than any of their opponents this season. Denver established Grace Mullihan in the middle early in the 1st set, building a 6-0 lead. The Titans closed within 8-3 on a kill by Jayci Graeve but struggled to slow down the middle attack or the quick push to Bailey Mullihan on the outside. Denver went up 13-3 but the Titans kept fighting, getting back-to-back kills from Brenna McAlister, pulling within 14-6. The Cyclones closed the 1st set on a 9-1 run to win 25-7.
The Titans scored first in set two but Denver responded with a pair of points, taking a 2-1 lead. The Titans tied it at 2 but quickly fell down 6-3. Jayci Graeve had a kill, pulling the Titans within 7-3 as the Titans fought within 8-7. The Cyclones held the lead between two and four-points with Jayci Graeve cutting it to 13-10. Graeve added another kill and was followed by an ace from Nicole Meyer, pulling South Central Calhoun within 16-13. Denver took over again, closing the set on a 9-1 run to end it 25-14.
Jayci Graeve led the Titans with 9 kills, earning a quick one in set three, giving the Titans a 1-0 lead. Graeve added a pair of kills to tie the set at 2 and give the Titans a 3-2 lead. South Central Calhoun grabbed their largest lead of the match, up 6-3, holding the lead until Denver tied it at 8. Brenna McAlister kept the Titans in the lead with a kill, making it 10-8. Denver responded with a 6-0 run, going up 14-10. Brenna McAlister had a kill, pulling the Titans within 14-11. The Titans kept battling with a Jayci Graeve kill, followed by an ace from Norah Riedesel, cutting their deficit to 15-13. Graeve kept them in striking distance with a kill, making it 17-15. They tied the set at 17 but Denver took control, going up 23-17 before Brenna McAlister had a kill, stopping the 6-0 run. Denver pushed the lead to 24-20 and won the match with a 25-20 win in set three.
South Central Calhoun ends their season at 28-12.
