IKM-Manning was impressive in a 3-0 sweep on the road in the Class 1A Region 7 opener on Monday. The Wolves biggest deficit was early in set three when they trailed 7-3. They answered every run the Wildcats made and were clutch down the stretch in sets one and two. The back row was strong against a team that served aggressively all season, holding the Wildcats to two aces. That allowed Karlee Arp to move the ball around, keeping the Wildcats block off balance and feeding a strong group of hitters that took their turns carrying the team offensively. Grace Carroll was huge early in set one, helping the Wolves get off to a strong start. Addisyn Bandow was nearly unstoppable late in set one. After some early struggles at the net in set two, Keagan Eischeid dominated the later parts of set two, ending it with back-to-back aces. Grace Carroll was critical late in set three after Addisyn Bandow and Keagan Eischeid helped them battle back from down 7-3.
Woodbury Central went up 2-0 in set one but IKM-Manning fought back tying the set at 7 with a kill from Grace Carroll. The Wolves went up 8-7 and held the lead until the Wildcats took a 14-13 lead. IKM-Manning had used a 6-1 run to grab the lead but Woodbury Central responded with a 4-0 run to retake the lead. Gace Carroll stopped the Wildcats with a kill and IKM-Manning tied it at 18, taking a 19-18 lead. Addisyn Bandow put the Wolves up 21-18 but Woodbury Central went on a 4-0 run to take a 22-21 lead. Addisyn Bandow added another kill, tying it at 22 and Katelyn Bandow put the Wolves up 24-22. Addisyn Bandow ended the set with a cross court kill.
The second set was tight early with neither team grabbing control. A kill by Anna Stangl put the Wolves up 8-5 but a 4-1 Wildcats run tied the set at 9. The Wolves went back up 121-10 but Woodbury Central grabbed a 13-12 lead. Addisyn Bandow tied it at 13 with a kill and IKM-Manning went up 14-13. The lead switched hands a couple times before Keagan Eischeid had back-to-back kills, putting the Wolves up 18-16. Eischeid added another kill, putting the Wolves up 19-17. Addisyn Bandow made it 22-20 IKM-Manning. The Wolves went up 23-21 and 24-22 on kills by Keagan Eischeid. Woodbury Central tied the set at 24. Keagan Eischeid had a kill, followed by an ace to end the set, putting the Wolves up 2-0.
Woodbury Central started set three with lots of energy, going up 7-3. The Wolves chipped away at the deficit, tying the match at 9 on a kill by Addisyn Bandow with Grace Carroll ace putting them up 10-9. Woodbury Central tied the set at 11 but Addisyn Bandow had a kill to put the Wolves up for good. Keagan Eischeid had several kills as the Wolves pulled. Woodbury Central had to change lineups due to an injury. The Wolves stretched the lead with Grace Carroll having three straight kills, making it 21-15. The Wolves went on to win 25-18 to complete the sweep.
Keagan Eischeid led the balanced offensive attack with 12 kills with Addisyn Bandow adding 11 kills and Grace Carroll finishing with 10 kills. Karlee Arp had another strong game with 32 assists and 10 digs. Anna Stangl had 12 digs with Keagan Eischeid had 10 digs and Grace Carroll finished 8 digs with 2 aces.
The Wolves improved to 14-16 overall. They head to River Valley on Wednesday for the quarterfinal round.

Paton Churdan fell just short in set four, losing 28-26. A win would have sent the match into a decisive fifth, giving them a chance to advance. The Rockets battled back after a tough start, falling 25-14 in set one to win a tight second set, 25-23. They played well in set three but fell, falling in a 2-1 hole.
Mia Russell paced the Rockets with 10 kills and Ella Tasler led the effort in the back row with 12 digs.
Paton Churdan season ends at 3-13.

Ar-We-Va played their best match of the season, forcing 9th ranked River Valley to have to keep swinging. The Rockets defense kept rallies going, making River Valley attack three to four times to score. Azayal Martinez paced the back row with 12 digs, Emma Leiting had 9 digs and Mollie Leiting finished with 6 digs. The offense was led by Morgan Berg with 4 kills and Gabrielle Hundling and Annalee Wittrock added 3 kills. Amber Ragaller had 10 assists.
The Rockets season finishes at 2-25.

The Class 1A postseason started on Monday, with two area teams facing off in region five. The Audubon Wheelers traveled to take on the Coon Rapids-Bayard Crusaders. Audubon jumped out to a big lead in the first set, taking a 20-9 lead. Coon Rapids-Bayard came storming back, but the Wheelers would hang on to a 25-21 win in the first set, taking a 1-0 lead. The second set was just as close. The Crusaders were able to pick up a 25-23 win in set two to even the match at 1-1. In an important third set, CRB would come out on top 25-22, taking a 2-1 lead over Audubon. The fourth set was the most lopsided of the night. The Crusaders would come out on top 25-19 as they went on to win 3-1 over Audubon.
Malia Clayburg was outstanding at the net in the win for CRB, picking up a team-high 20 kills. Amelia Cook recorded a team-high 24 assists and also had five kills for the Crusaders. Ashtyn Klocke was second on the team in kills with seven. Harlow Miller was great at the net as well for Audubon, having 31 kills. Anna Larsen had a team-high 35 assists in the loss. As a team, the Wheelers had 89 digs.
With the win, Coon Rapids-Bayard improves to 23-5. The Crusaders are back in action on Thursday against St. Edmond. The loss ends the Wheeler’s season at 8-22.

The Glidden-Ralston Wildcats season comes to an end on Monday with a road loss to Fort Dodge St. Edmonds. The Wildcats only led once in the whole match, and it came in the third set. Glidden-Ralston got off to a slow start as they fell down early in set one. The Wildcats would go on to lose 25-11 in the first set and fall down 0-1 to St. Edmond. The Wildcats played a lot better in the second set. The second set was the closest of the match. Glidden-Ralston would still trail the whole set as they found themselves down 15-11. St. Edmond would go on to win the set 25-19, taking a 2-0 lead. The Third set started close as Glidden-Ralston took a 1-0 lead. St. Edmond grew a 6-1 lead in the set. The Wildcats came back and trailed 18-16 late in the set. St. Edmonds would go on a run and win the set 25-17. Glidden-Ralston would go on to lose the game 3-0.
Lauren Hulsing and Kassidy Wenck each recorded eight kills in the loss for Glidden-Ralston. Hulsing also picked up three blocks at the net. Ashlynn Tigges had a team-high 23 digs for the Wildcats. With the loss, Glidden-Ralston’s season comes to an end at 10-16.

All three sets were close as Exira-EHK went on to win against CAM as the Spartans advanced in the Class 1A volleyball postseason. Taryn and Jaelynn Petersen were great at the net offensively, as they combined for 24 kills in the win. The first two sets were back and forth. Exira-EHK would win the first set 25-23 to take an early 1-0 lead over CAM. The Spartans would come out on top in the second set by two points, 25-23, to go up 2-0. The third set was the most lopsided of the match, but it was still decided by four points. Exira-EHK would go on to win 25-21 and 3-0 over CAM with a win in the third set.
Jaelynn Petersen led the Spartans in kills with 14. Taryn Petersen added ten kills in the win for Exira-EHK. Brooklyn Flathers had a team-high 15 assists. Riley Miller chipped in 13 assists for Exira-EHK. As a team, the Spartans had 52 digs. With the win, Exira-EHK moves to 15-5. The Spartans are back in action on Wednesday against Fremont Mills.
