Girls Volleyball Results Saturday, October 12th
Ar-We-Va, Coon Rapids Bayard, Exira-EHK, Glidden Ralston and Paton Churdan At Rolling Valley Conference Tournament At West Harrison
Coon Rapids Bayard edged Exira-EHK for the Rolling Valley Conference Tournament Championship, winning in three sets with a 17-15 win in the final set. Both teams rolled into the finals with sweeps in the quarterfinals and semifinals. Coon Rapids Bayard knocked off Glidden Ralston 21-16, 21-19 and got past Boyer Valley, which shared the regular season title, 21-19 and dominated set two, winning 21-6. The Spartans were just as impressive, beating Ar-We-Va in the quarterfinals, 21-11, 21-14 and CAM 22-20 and 21-18. The Spartans battled past a strong CAM team they will face on Monday in the opening round of Regionals. The teams split the first-two sets with the Crusaders winning set one, 25-20 and the Spartans evening up the match with a 25-22 win in set two. Ar-We-Va and Glidden Ralston both earned wins with the Wildcats topping West Harrison in three sets. They dropped set one 21-16 but rolled in set two, 21-5 and won the final set 15-12. Glidden Ralston dropped a tough three set match to Woodbine, losing the first and third set while winning set two 22-20. Ar-We-Va got past Paton Churdan in the opening round 21-18 and 21-12 but fell to Exira-EHK in the semifinals and lost to Woodbine 21-12, 21-11 in the consolation brackets. Paton Churdan fell in their second match in the consolation bracket, losing to West Harrison 21-13, 21-18, going 0-2 for the tournament.
Malia Clayburg led the Crusaders at the net with 33 kills with Aubrey Hofbauer adding 12 kills. Amelia Cook had 55 assists and a team high 3 aces. Anna Hart paced them with 30 digs with Ella Heithoff having 26 digs, Ashtyn Klocke 24 digs and Malia Clayburg with 23 digs. Aubrey Hofbauer, Maddy Mason and Malia Clayburg all had 3 blocks.
Jaelynn Petersen had a team high 24 kills for Exira-EHK with Taryn Petersen finishing with 20 kills. Brooklyn Flathers paced their setters with 24 assists, Riley Miller added 22 assists. Jaelynn Petersen had a team high 19 digs, 10 blocks and 5 aces, pacing them in four categories. Zoey Rasmussen finished with 16 digs with Taryn Petersen having 14 digs and Mayne Jorgensen digging 11 hits. Taryn Petersen added 3 blocks and 4 aces.
Lauren Hulsing had 26 kills and 6 blocks, both highs for Glidden Ralston. Ashlynn Tigges added 16 kills with a team high 34 digs and 4 aces. Makenna Wiederien had 40 assists and 3 aces. Kassidy Wenck had 31 digs and 3 aces, Allison Snyder 18 digs and 2 blocks and Olivia Squibb 12 digs.
Gabrielle Hundling led Ar-We-Va with 10 kills with Azaya Martinez adding 8 kills and 13 digs to go with 2 aces. Annalee Wittrock had 7 kills with Mrogan Berg earning 6 kills with 9 digs and 2 aces. Amber Ragaller led them with 35 assists, adding 11 digs and a pair of aces. Emma Leiting had 14 digs with Mollie Leiting having 10 digs.
Mia Russell had 11 kills for Paton Churdan along with 4 aces, Ella Tasler added 13 digs with Alivya Smith finishing with 10 digs.

South Central Calhoun At Winterset Tournament
South Central Calhoun went 1-2 in matches on Saturday and 2-4 in sets. The Titans earned a sweep over Chariton, winning in convincing style, 21-7, 21-5. They fell to Gilbert 2-18, 21-11 and lost to 11th ranked Norwalk 21-15, 21-18, playing well in the loss. No other details are available at this time.
