The Ar-We-Va Rockets clinched a playoff birth as they knocked off Boyer Valley to get the third automatic bid in 8-man district one. The Rockets led the whole game, as the defense was outstanding all game long. Ar-We-Va didn’t have to throw the ball much as they found a lot of success on the ground. Ar-We-Va got the ball to start the game as they marched down the field, picking up four to five yards in most plays. The Rockets would score on the drive as they would take an early 7-0 lead. Boyer Valley had a quick three and out of their first dive as the Rockets would take over with a good field position. Ar-We-Va again capitalized and scored, taking a 14-0 lead early in the first quarter. Ar-We-Va would take a 14-0 lead going into the second quarter. The Rockets added another touchdown early in the second quarter as they would lead 21-0 over Boyer Valley. The Bulldogs found some success in the second quarter in running the ball. The Rocket’s defense had four fourth-down stops in the first half, which helped keep Boyer Valley out of the endzone. As time expired in the first half, Boyer Valley connected on a hail marry that was tipped into the receiver’s hands in the endzone. Ar-We-Va would take a 21-6 lead at the half.

The game moved quickly as both teams ran the football for most of it. Ar-We-Va was able to add another touchdown coming out of the locker room. The Rockets’ lead would grow to 28-6 going to the fourth quarter. With Boyer Valley throwing the ball most of the second half, the Rockets’ defense was able to get a good rush on the quarterback. Ar-We-Va would add another touchdown in the fourth quarter as they went on to win 35-6 against Boyer Valley.

Wyatt Ragaller carried the ball 30 times in the win for Ar-We-Va. Ragaller had 198 yards on the ground and three touchdowns. Wade Ragaller also went over the century mark on the ground with 111 yards and a touchdown. As a team, Ar-We-Va ran for 311 yards against Boyer Valley. Blayne Smith didn’t have to throw the football much as he was 5-9 for 33 yards. Smith did add a touchdown on the ground coming from a QB sneak. Defensively, the Rockets had 15.5 tackles for loss. Devon Ehlers and Johnathan Riesselman each had 10.5 tackles for the Rockets. Ehlers also led the lead in tackles for loss with 3.5. With the win, Ar-We-Va moves to 5-3. The Rockets will be back in action in the first round of the playoffs against Fremont Mills.
