Brincks Exteriors Sports Report: Raiders Fall on the Road Friday At Sioux Central

A late Rebel touchdown put the game out of reach as East Sac battled Sioux Central for 3rd place in the district. The Rebels took an early lead but East Sac kept battling back, throwing for 201-yards and a pair of touchdowns. A 65-yard touchdown pass pulled the Raiders within 34-26 early in the 4th quarter but the Rebels were able to run the ball, eating up clock, scoring with under 5:00 left to push it to a two possession game. Sioux Central finished the game with 441-yards rushing, led by Kinnick Fahrenkrog, who ran for 311-yards on 44-carries. 

Sioux Central scored on a 5-yard touchdown with 8:08 left in the 1st quarter and never trailed in the game. The Raiders, going to a hurry up offense, responded quickly. Sam Julin capped the drive with a 2-yard run but the extra-point was blocked, leaving the Raiders down 7-6 with 6:31 left in the quarter. Sioux Central responded quickly, scoring with 3:21 left in the quarter on a 17-yard run, pushing the lead to 14-6. Kinnick Fahrenkrog pushed the lead to 21-6 early in the 2nd quarter. He rambled 64-yards with 10:09 left in the half, scoring one of his five rushing touchdowns. The Raiders needed an answer and got one, scoring just before half. Jack Gullett scored on a 18-yard run with 0:25 left in the half, pulling the Raiders within 21-12. 

East Sac needed a stop in the 3rd quarter but Sioux Central stretched the lead to 16-points with a 18-yard run by Kinnick Fahrenkrop. The Raiders responded right away, scoring just over 2:00 later on a 20-yard pass from Sam Julin to Asher Lawler. Lawler converted the 2-point conversion and East Sac pulled within 28-20. Another Rebels drive ended with a 28-yard touchdown with 11:26 left in the game. East Sac blocked the extra-point and trailed 34-20. East Sac needed to score quickly and did as Sam Julin hit Asher Lawler for a 65-yard touchdown, pulling the Raiders within 34-26 with 11:10 left. The defense needed to make a stop and get the ball back for the offense. The Rebels were able to run the ball with success, scoring on a 3-yard run with 4:31 left.

Sam Julin passed for 201-yards and a pair of touchdowns. Asher Lawler had 5 catches for 108-yards and a pair of touchdowns. He also led the defense with 12.5 tackles, 12 of them solo. Gabe King added 10.5 tackles and Carson Schmitt had 8.5 tackles. 

 The Raiders battled but fell 42-26, dropping to 3-5 overall and 2-3 in the district. The open playoffs on Friday on the road at Woodward Granger.
