A late spurt in the 1st half helped Glidden Ralston stretch a tight lead into a 28-6 lead at half, helping them earn their second straight win over the Crusaders. The Wildcats used a short punt to score, then returned an interception for a touchdown on the Crusaders next possession to open up a tight game. Glidden Ralston scored first, driving down the field and scoring on a touchdown run by Colby Wallace, the first of five rushing touchdowns for Wallace in the game. They failed on the 2-point conversion and led 6-0 after the 1st quarter. Coon Rapids Bayard responded on a drive that started in the 1st quarter and ended with a Wyatt Oswald touchdown run early in the 2nd quarter. The Wildcats went back on top midway through the 2nd quarter, then made a stop, forcing the Crusaders to punt from deep in their own territory. The Wildcats got pressure on the punter, causing a short punt and scored on a short drive. The Crusaders went to the pass game to try and score late in the half but Lucas Christian intercepted the pass and returned it for a touchdown, extending the lead to 28-6 at the half. The Wildcats kept the pressure up in the 2nd half, outscoring the Crusaders 20-0 with a pair of touchdowns in the 4th quarter.
The win improves the Wildcats to 3-4 overall and 2-3 in the district with a home game against St Edmond on Friday. Coon Rapids Bayard falls to 1-6 overall and 1-4 in the district. They head to Colo-Nesco on 93.7 KKRL on Friday.
