For the second time in three weeks South Central Calhoun faces a team ranked in the top two in the state in Class A. Two weeks ago they battled into the 2nd half with 2nd ranked ACGC before falling by 14-points. They traveled to top ranked West Hancock in Week 6 and the Eagles used four big plays in the 1st quarter to build a 33-0 lead. The Titans needed to match the Eagles physicality up front but West Hancock created creases, scoring on 65-yard, 38-yard, 48-yard and 50-yard. The final one coming with 1:56 left in the 1st quarter. They added a 5-yard touchdown run to end the 1st quarter. The Titans had success throwing the ball with Andrew Anderson and Luke Patterson combining for 157-yards but were each intercepted once. The Eagles were able to take advantage of the turnovers, returning one for a 48-yard touchdown in the 2nd quarter. South Central Calhoun wasn’t able to get their ground game going, running for 45-yards on 19 carries, led by Mike Trott with 27-yards on 5 carries. West Hancock thrived in the running game, averaging 13.8-yards per carry, finishing with 387-yards on 28 carries. They only threw the ball once, completing it for 31-yards.
Andrew Anderson passed for 122-yards with Cole Higgins catching 7 passes for 58-yards. Mike Trott led the offense in rushing with 27-yards on 5 carries. Higgins had a team high 5 tackles.
The non-district loss drops South Central Calhoun to 3-3 overall, but they remain 2-2 in district play with a home game against Panorama on Friday on KIKD 106.7.
