The Kumper Knights knock off another ranked team as they stay perfect in district play with a win on the road over Des Moines Christian. Young players made key big plays in the win for the Knights. Des Moines Christian jumped out to an early lead 7-0. The Knights would respond in the second quarter, putting ten points on the board to take a 10-7 lead. DMC would add a field goal late in the quarter as both teams would be tied 10-10 at the half. With just over 8:00 minutes left in the third quarter, Jarin Hoffman added his second rushing touchdown, and Kuemper took the lead back at 17-10. Hoffman would add another rushing touchdown in the quarter as the Knights’s lead would grow to 23-10 going to the fourth quarter. Griffin Glynn caught a touchdown pass halfway through the fourth quarter, putting Kuemper up 29-10. DMC would attempt to come back late as they added ten points towards the end of the quarter. Kuemper would go on to win 29-20.
Brock Badding had one of his best games throwing the football as he went 16-31 for 286 yards and a touchdown. Sophomore Jarin Hoffman carried the ball 34 times for 141 yards and three touchdowns. Griffin Glynn had a great all-around game, catching six passes for 118 yards and a touchdown. Glynn also added two interceptions on defense. Kent Sanders recorded a team-high 8.5 tackles with a tackle for loss. Austin Heinrichs chipped in eight defensive tackles for Kuemper. With the win, the Knights improved to 5-1. Kuemper is back in action on Friday for senior night against Saydel.
