Kuemper suffered their first conference loss, dropping the three sets in a row after winning a highly contested opening set. The Knights swung well in the opening set but struggled against an aggressive block by Glenwood and an even more aggressive serve. The Rams did an outstanding job of adjusting to the Kuemper block, keeping the Knights off-balance, forcing them to play out of system most of the match. Kuemper had chances in every set, trailing 21-19 in set two, up 8-7 in set three and trailed 18-17 in set four.
The opening set was exciting volleyball with ten ties and five lead changes with Kuemper taking the lead for good at 17-16. Glenwood led most of the early part of the set, with their largest led being 2 while the Knights grabbed a 1-point lead twice, the second at 6-5. Addy Anthofer kept the Knights in striking distance with kills to pull the Knights within 10-9 and tying the set at 11. Alivia Schenkelberg tied the match at 15 with a kill and Addy Anthofer put them up 16-15 with her third kill of the set. Glenwood tied it at 16 but Mariah Heuton put Kuemper up 17-16 with a kill. The Knights stretched the lead to 19-16 on a kill from Kolbi Peter and held on to win 25-23. The lead changed three times in set two and was tied five times but Kuemper couldn’t get a string of kills together, finishing with four in the set. That allowed Glenwood to find a rhythm, taking the lead for good at 9-8 but using a 5-0 run after Kuemper pulled within 15-14 to take control of the set. Addy Anthofer gave the Knights a chance with a kill, pulling them within 21-19 but the Rams scored four of the last five points to win.
The third set was similar to set two early with the lead changing hands three times and tied up four times. Zoe Brunning served Kuemper to a 3-0 lead with an ace serve and Elsa Tiefenthaler having a overpass kill. The Rams responded with a 3-0 run but Kuemper went back up 6-3 with Elsa Tiefenthaler having an ace. Glenwood responded again, going up 7-6 and taking the lead for good at 9-8. Brianna Wittrock had a kill, followed by an ace, pulling the Knights within 12-10 but Glenwood built the lead to 21-13. Addy Anthofer had a pair of kills, around a kill from Kolbi Peter late as Kuemper fought to within 21-16 but the Rams pulled back away to take a two sets to one lead. Kolbi Peter put Kuemper up 1-0 in set four but they never led again as Glenwood took charge at the net with Kaylee Wray, Charley Hernandez and Ilsa Kemling control the middle and outside. Kuemper battled, keeping it close, pulling within 9-7 and 21-19 on a kill by Addy Anthofer but they weren’t able to tie the set and fell 25-21.
Addy Anthofer led the Knights with 9 kills with Brianna Wittrock and Kolbi Peter both having 7 kills and Mariah Heuton adding 5 kills. Karsyn Overmohle paced the Knights with 15 assists with Kaylie Simons having a team high 12 digs. Brianna Wittrock and Kolbi Peter both had 2 blocks.
The Knights fall to 28-2 overall and 5-1 in the Hawkeye 10 Conference. They host Lewis Central next Thursday.

The Carroll Tigers are still looking for their first conference win as they fell on the road to Ballard. The Bombers started strong, jumping out in the first set and winning 25-17 over Carroll. The second set was the closest, as the Tigers made adjustments. Ballard would go up 2-0 over Carroll, winning 25-23 in set two. The third set was all Ballard, as they would win by double digits, winning 25-15 and 3-0 over Carroll.
Both Katelyn Aden and Olivia Rowedder were great at the net offensively. Aden and Rowedder each recorded 13 kills in the loss, which were team-highs. Emily Puck picked up a team-high 25 assists. The Tigers recorded 58 digs in the loss, with Aden having a team-best 16. With the loss, Carroll drops to 14-13. The Tigers are back in action on Saturday at the Greene County Tournament.

Malia Clayburg had a career night with 28 kills and a .397 kill efficiency but the Crusaders weren’t able to take advantage of a one set to nothing lead. The Tigers battled back at home, edging the Crusaders in set two and winning set three to put the pressure on Coon Rapids Bayard. The Crusaders stepped into the challenge, taking the fourth set to send it to five. Woodbine pulled out the win, sending Coon Rapids Bayard to their 4th loss of the season and first in the Rolling Valley. The win moves Woodbine into the conference race, pulling within a game of 1st place. The teams stats were almost even in every category but blocks where Woodbine held an 8-1 advantage.
Malia Clayburg was huge in the loss with 28 kills, 15 digs and 3 aces. Amelia Cook had 39 assists and 7 digs while Ashtyn Klocke added 6 kills and 10 digs. Anna Hart had a team high 34 digs with Ella Heithoff finishing with 19 digs.
The loss drops Coon Rapids Bayard to 17-4 overall and 4-1 in the Rolling Valley. They are home to Paton Churdan on 93.7 KKRL on Thursday.

The Glidden-Ralston Wildcats picked up a conference win over the Ar-We-Va Rockets as two local schools faced off against each other on Tuesday. The first set had two ties. Glidden-Ralston would take the lead at 4-3 and would not give it up the rest of the set as they went on to win 25-18, taking an early 1-0 lead over Ar-We-Va. The second set was all Glidden-Ralston as they were able to jump out to an early 10-1 lead. The Wildcats would go on to win 25-10 in set number two. The best set was the third. Ar-We-Va took the lead at 6-5 and led the whole match until late. There were eight different ties in the third set. Glidden-Ralston was able to tie it up at 24-24. The Wildcats would go on to win 28-26 in the third set and 3-0 over Ar-We-Va.
Both teams served well in the match. As a team, Glidden-Ralston had 17 aces. Kassidy Wenck recorded a team-high eight assists. Lauren Hulsing was great at the net, picking up 14 kills in the win for Glidden-Ralston. MaKenna Wiederien recorded a team-high 25 assists for the Wildcats. For Ar-We-Va, Amber Ragaller was great serving the volleyball, having a team-high five aces. Ragaller also recorded a team-high three kills for the Rockets. As a team, the Rockets had 13 aces.
With the win, Glidden-Ralston moves to 6-5. The loss drops Ar-We-Va to 0-17. The Rockets are back in action on Thursday against West Harrison. Glidden-Ralston returns to the court on Thursday against Exira-EHK.

East Sac suffered a tough loss at home on Tuesday, falling to SE Valley after winning the opening set. The loss drops them a game being Newell Fonda and South Central Calhoun in the loss column and two game behind Emmetsburg in the win column with three matches left in the regular season. The Raiders took the opening set but lost the next three sets by a combined nine points. SE Valley out hit the Raiders .123 to .102 at the net and their 13 aces kept East Sac out of system. East Sac struggled to find a groove after the opening set, falling 25-22 in set two and then losing 25-23 in the third set. The Jaguars kept their momentum in the fourth set to edge the Raiders 25-21.
Addisen Ehler had a team high 17 kills along with 9 digs. Sarah Bontrager paced the back row with 15 digs while Katelyn Schmitt added 11 kills to go with 10 digs and 4 aces. Emerson Ludwig had a team high 4 blocks along with 5 kills. Jordin Carroll passed for 39 assists, adding 14 digs and Ella Wilson had 11 digs.
The Raiders fall to 16-8 overall and 6-2 in the Twin Lakes Conference. They host Sioux Central on KIKD 106.7 on Thursday.

Exira-EHK picked up a huge three set win over Boyer Valley, pulling within a 1/2 game of the Bulldogs for the Rolling Valley Conference lead. The Spartans showed great control late, winning all three sets but three points or less, including a 26-24 win in set two and a 27-25 win in the third set. The Spartans got big nights at the net from Jaelynn Petersen and Mayne Jorgensen, combining for 23 kills. Exira-EHK did a nice job in the back row, getting the ball to Brooklyn Flathers and Riley Miller in good shape those two did a great job of setting up their hitters.
Jaelynn Petersen was strong all the way around, finishing with a team high 12 kills to go with 12 digs, 3 blocks and a pair of aces. Mayne Jorgensen had her best match of the season with 11 kills, 9 digs and 3 aces. Taryn Petersen was strong with 7 kills and a pair of aces. Brooklyn Flathers had 18 assists and Riley Miller added 10 assists and 6 digs while Zoey Rasmussen finished with 7 digs.
The Spartans improved to 9-3 overall and 4-1 in the Rolling Valley Conference. They host Glidden Ralston on Thursday.

The Audubon Wheelers have dropped 12 straight games as they lost at home on Tuesday against Treynor. The Wheelers fell down early in the first set as Treynor came away with a 25-14 win, taking an early 1-0 lead. The second set was the best of the match as the Wheeler were able to battle with one of the top teams in the Western Iowa Conference. The second set had to go to extra time, but Treynor was able to win 26-24. The third set was like the first, as Treynor built an early lead again. Audubon would go on to drop the third set 25-16 and lose 3-0 to Treynor.
Anna Larsen did a great job of distributing the volleyball to her hitters on Tuesday. Larsen finished with a team-high 19 assists. Harlow Miller was great at the net, finishing with 14 kills and two team-high blocks. As a team, the Wheelers recorded 37 digs in the loss. With the loss, Audubon falls to 5-17. The Wheelers are back in action on Thursday against AHSTW.

The Paton Churdan Rockets struggled on Tuesday as they lost in three straight sets to CAM. The last set was the closest. CAM won the first set by double digits as they went up 1-0 with a 25-13 win over Paton Churdan. CAM built another big lead in the second set as they won 25-8. Paton Churdan played their best in the last set as they made adjustments from the first two. The Rockets would go on to drop the third set 25-18 as they lost 3-0 to CAM. Alivya Smith led Paton Churdan in kills with five and added 11 digs. Ella Tasler had an ace in the loss. With the loss, the Rockets fell to 2-6. Paton Churdan is back in action on Thursday against Coon Rapids-Bayard.
