Brincks Exteriors Sports Report: SCC Holds On For Big District Win Against IKM-Manning

South Central Calhoun and IKM-Manning played a defensive slugfest as the Titans came away with a big district win over the Wolves. On South Central Calhoun’s first drive, they took the ball downfield methodically with a bunch of four or five-yard runs and took the early lead. Sophomore Luke Patterson found Hayden Stickrod for a touchdown that gave SCC an early 7-0 lead. IKM-Manning struggled to move the ball most of the first half as they punted the ball on their first two drives.  In the second quarter, Caleb Juhl scored a touchdown on a one-yard run, and the Titans grew their lead to 13-0. Towards the end of the second quarter, IKM-Manning scored their first touchdown, and Ben Ramsey found Ashton Ahrenholtz for 60 yards, which made the score 13-7 at the half. South Central Calhoun got the football to start the third quarter.

On the Titans’ first possession, they fumbled the football, which Ben Langel of IKM-Manning recovered for a touchdown to tie the game at 13-13. Both defenses played great in the second half. Towards the end of the third quarter, Cole Higgins connected on a field goal to give SCC the lead back at 16-13. Neither team scored in the fourth quarter, as the Titans would go on to win 16-13.

For South Central Calhoun, Cole Higgins carried the ball 18 times for 66 yards and made the go-ahead field goal. Luke Patterson was 5-11, throwing the ball for 62 yards and a touchdown. Caleb Juhl for SCC had 58 yards on the ground for a touchdown. Defensively, the Titans were led by Juhl, who added seven tackles. Ben Ramsey threw the ball great for IKM-Manning. Ramsey was 15-25 for 175 yards and a touchdown. The Wolves struggled to run the ball, as they only recorded 48 yards on the ground as a team. Davis Rasmussen was the leading receiver for IKM-Manning, as he recorded five catches for 53 yards. Defensively, Carson Perdew had 11 tackles.

With the win, South Central Calhoun improved to 3-2. The loss drops IKM-Manning to 2-3 overall. The Titans are back in action on Friday against West Hancock. The Wolves will be at home on Friday against ACGC.
