East Sac took over in the 2nd half after using a 12-play drive on their opening drive of the game to take the quick lead. The Raiders defense was strong all night, getting the shutout while holding Pocahontas Area to 228-yards of total offense. A pair of big plays late in the 3rd quarter and early in the 4th quarter stretched the Raiders lead, putting them in control, up 21-0 with 11:10 left. East Sac threw for 129-yards and ran for 259-yards, averaging 7.4-yards per carry.
The Raiders opened the game with a perfect drive, marching 70-yards in 12 plays, scoring on a 2-yard run from Sam Julin to take a 6-0 lead early. The defense held firm, forcing Pocahontas Area to punt on their opening drive, then bending and not breaking as the Indians had 9 play and 11 play drives on their final two possessions in the half. Both drives ended in a turnover on downs as the Raiders held a 6-0 lead at half. Pocahontas Area established a drive to open the 2nd half and looked like they would tie the game or take a lead but Sam Julin intercepted an Indian pass, stymieing the drive. East Sac took advantage, marching 94-yards on 7 plays and scoring on a 36-yard run by Landon Grindle. The 2-point conversion put the Raiders up 14-0 with 4:19 left in the 3rd quarter. The Raiders defense forced a punt, downed at the Raiders 4-yard line but East Sac took advantage of a muffed punt by Pocahontas Area to maintain the drive, going 96-yards on 12 plays. Sam Julin found Asher Lawler for a 22-yard touchdown with 11:10 left in the game and East Sac was up 21-0. The Raiders struck on their next drive with Sam Julin scoring on a 35-yard run, capping the scoring with 7:25 left in the game.
Sam Julin passed for 129-yards and a touchdown along with running for 99-yards and a pair of touchdowns. He added 6.5 tackles on defense with an interception. Landon Grindle ran for 141-yards and a touchdown with Ashler Lawler catching 6 passes for 74-yards and a touchdown. The defense was led by Gabe King with 10.5 tackles and Kade Snyder with 9.5 tackles. Carson Schmitt added 8 tackles and recovered a fumble.
The Raiders improved to 2-3 overall and 1-1 in district 2. They head to Eagle Grove on Friday.
