Brincks Exteriors Sports Report: Carroll, IKM-Manning and Audubon Volleyball From Saturday

Volleyball Results Saturday, September 29th 

Carroll At Nevada Tournament 

Carroll went 2-3 in matches on Saturday, losing to a pair of ranked teams in tight losses. Carroll took 14th ranked Wapsie  Valley (Class 2A) to three sets, winning 21-18 in the 2nd set before falling 16-14 in the 3rd set. The Tigers battled 8th ranked Norwalk (Class 4A) in two very close sets, losing 21-18 in both. The Tigers recovered well after the early losses to Wapsie Valley and Norwalk to knock off West Marshall in two sets, winning the 2nd set 22-20. They cruised to a 21-15, 21-7 win over Des Moines Lincoln to wrap up pool play 2-2. They matched up with Dallas Center-Grimes, which dropped out of the Class 4A rankings on Thursday , for their final match of the day. Carroll competed very well, taking the opening set to extra points before falling 23-21. Set two was just as tight with Dallas Center-Grimes winning 21-18 late. Carroll finished the day going 5-6 in sets with seven of the eleven sets decided by 3-points or less.

Olivia Rowedder had a team high 36 kills and 7 aces. Katelyn Aden added 32 kills with a team high 38 digs. Amanda Wardell paced Carroll on the defensive side at the net with 10 blocks to go with 10 kills. McKenna Schwertfeger added 24 digs with 5 aces. Emily Puck had 77 assists, finding five different hitters with all five having at least 10 kills. Puck added 16 digs. Analia Ayala and Chloe Kock both had 10 kills. Marasyn Wittrock had 33 digs with 5 aces.

The Tigers sit 14-12 overall as they head to Ballard on Tuesday.

Audubon and IKM-Manning At Boyer Valley Tournament At Denison- Will update with Audubon details once released  

IKM-Manning had a strong tournament, going 3-1 in matches, topping two conference foes and the top team in the Rolling Valley Conference before falling in three sets to Denison Schleswig, a 4A school. Audubon finished their day going 0-4 in matches but taking a set from conference foe Missouri Valley. The Wheelers had close set losses against Denison Schleswig and Boyer Valley in 2-0 losses.

The Wolves found a way to win close sets late on Saturday along with rallying from one set to nothing deficits to earn match wins. They showed good growth and an increased confidence in late match situations. They dropped their first set of the tournament against Boyer Valley but rallied to win the next two sets, 21-16 and 15-9, taking charge at the net and winning the service battle. The Wolves then avenged a five set loss to Missouri Valley this past week with a three set win. They dropped the opening set in the match but fought back to control set two 21-14, then pulled away late in the third set to win 15-12. IKM-Manning downed Audubon in two sets, then nearly rallied to beat Denison Schleswig in a matchup of two teams that were 3-0 on the day. The Wolves lost the first set but won set two 21-18, falling in a tight third set 15-13.

 

Addisyn Bandow and Keagan Eischeid continue to grow into go to hitters for the Wolves with Bandow finishing with 33 kills and Eischeid had 32 kills. Grace Carroll and Ella Langel both had 13 kills helping Karlee Arp finish with 75 assists with six different girls having a kill. Anna Stangl paced a good effort in the back row with 40 digs with Keagan Eischeid adding 32 digs and Grace Carroll with 30 digs. Karlee Arp had 17 digs and Olivia Linde added 15 digs. Keagan Eischeid paced the defense at the net with 5 blocks with Katelyn Bandow and Grace Carroll both having 3 blocks. Anna Stangl had a team high 6 aces with Addisyn Bandow and Karlee Arp both having 3 aces.

 

The Wolves are 6-10 on the season heading into a home match with LoMa on Thursday.
