Ar-We-Va led at halftime but couldn’t hold the lead as Woodbine rallied in the 3rd quarter, scoring 28-points to lead 34-20 going into the 4th quarter. The Tigers were able to establish the running game in the 2nd half, rushing for 318-yards on 33 carries with five rushing touchdowns. Ar-We-Va had success running the ball in the 1st half with Wade Ragaller rushing for 52-yards and Wyatt Ragaller finishing with 63-yards. That helped set up the passing game with Blayne Smith throwing a pair of touchdowns in the 1st half.
Woodbine grabbed the early lead with a 7-yard touchdown run but Ar-We-Va responded with Blayne Smith hitting Johnathan Riesselman for a 20-yard touchdown, giving them a 7-6 lead with 9:45 left in the 1st quarter. The Rockets added to their lead in the 2nd quarter with Blayne Smith hitting Aiden Blackman for a 7-yard touchdown with 5:41 left in the half. The lead grew to 20-7 with 1:08 left in the half with Wyatt Ragaller scoring on an 8-yard touchdown.
The Tigers rally started in the air with a 9-yard touchdown pass in the 3rd quarter. They added three rushing touchdowns in the 3rd quarter, scoring 28-points. They broke off a 29-yard run and a 37-yard run along with a 12-yard scoring run. Woodbine stretched their lead in the 4th quarter with a pair of touchdown runs and a safety with the last touchdown run and the safety coming in the final 1:30 of the game. Ar-We-Va had several turnovers in the 2nd half, after forcing turnovers in the 1st half.
Blayne Smith passed for 89-yards and a pair of touchdowns. Wyatt Ragaller scored a touchdown and ran for 63-yards with Wade Ragaller rushing for 52-yards. Johnathan Riesselman caught a 20-yard touchdown and Aiden Blackman had a 7-yard touchdown pass. Devon Ehlers led the defense with 11.5 tackles with Tyson Von Glan and Wade Ragaller both having 7.5 tackles.
The Rockets fall to 3-2 overall and 2-1 in district 1. They host St Mary’s, Remsen on Friday.
