The Kuemper Knights opened their district schedule with a big overtime win at home over Roland Story. The game was a battle between two teams ranked within the top ten in class 2A. The defenses were strong throughout the whole game as Kuemper took a big step forward in defensive play. Neither team scored in the first quarter, as the score stayed 0-0. Both teams scored on their final drives of the second quarter as the game would be tied 7-7 going to the half. Roland Story took the lead in the third quarter, scoring a touchdown and taking a 14-7 lead over Kuemper. The Knights were able to tie the game up late in the fourth quarter at 14-14 as they forced overtime. Kent Sanders had a key interception on defense to force the game to overtime. Kuemper got the ball first in overtime. Brock Badding found an open receiver in the endzone in overtime to give the Knights their first lead of the game. Kuemper went for two and took a 22-14 lead over Roland Story. The Kuemper defense came out and held strong, but Roland Story did not score, and Kuemper went on to win 22-14.
Jarin Hoffman went over 100 yards on the ground for the third straight week as he recorded 114 yards on 20 carries and a touchdown. Brock Badding was 16-34 through the air for 215 yards and a couple of touchdowns in the win. Carson Kanne caught seven passes for 91 yards and a touchdown. Braxton Vonnahme recorded four receptions for 85 yards and a touchdown. Tate Bieret continues his great season as he led the Knights in tackles with 14. Kent Sanders recorded 11 tackles and an interception.
